A short while ago, on our way home from what had been a fantastic holiday break, my boyfriend and I flew with MyTravel airlines. Overall, the experience was similar to most other airlines. IN my opinion, most airlines are much of a muchness (with the exception of the serious budget airlines). The check-in staff were friendly and helpful. The plane itself was standard; seats were not too comfortable, but for such low prices, what do you expect? Other reviews I have read suggested that the safety demonstration was inadequate on this airline. I would disagree with that. The safety demonstration was clear, audible and almost word for word what you get on any airline. The announcements made by the pilot were both funny and helpful, simultaneously putting the passengers at ease in the turbulence and giving us vital local information. The in-flight entertainment was fairly standard, showing one film during the flight. In my opinion, the screens were a bit out of view for some people and the headphones are extremely uncomfortable; but other than that, it was good. The thing that made this airline stand out for me above others I have travelled on was the standard of the service and the friendliness and helpfullness of the cabin crew. Just before take-off, I experienced a very frightening sudden turn of ill health. I was having difficulty breathing, feeling faint and very dizzy. The cabin staff were extremely helpful both before, during and after take off. Ensuring that I had oxygen to help me, plenty of cold water, enough space, cold flannels, a blanket and plenty of support and reassurance from the staff themselves. I later became very unwell with what I now know was severe food poisoning. What impressed me about the way I was dealt with was the personal aspect of the service. All the crew were extremely nice, helpful and patient. They treated me as an individual, rather than just an incident requiring following protocol. I believe that the standard of service was what enabled me to eventually calm down, get my breath back and survive the flight (albeit in a lot of pain). I would wholeheartedly recommend MyTravel as a budget airline for anyone travelling short distances.
