...I had never heard of the Hilton London Docklands before I had booked, but ended up having two fantastic days in late February this year.
The Hilton London Docklands is built directly opposite Canary Wharf on the other side of the Thames, an area of massive redevelopment. Out of London this area has still got a reputation of being rough, but in reality in now consists of expensive townhouses and Luxury apartments. The hotel itself has well over 800 rooms and is split into three wings.
Me and my partner had booked a double room, but discovered that it looked more like a large studio flat, considering the price of property in London these days, I was rather pleasantly surprised. There was also a settee and table and chairs and cable TV. The bathroom was gorgeous and the whole place was extremely clean and well keep.

Advantages: Excellent location, very reasonably priced, high quality of service, cleanliness & efficiency. Easy to book online. Disadvantages: Temperature control in room (we were very hot), drinks prices in bar a little steep even for central London.
...I booked this hotel online a couple of months before visiting London on a theatre trip. The overall booking process was extremely user-friendly and efficient. The price of a standard double room was much cheaper than the price advertised at the hotel on the day. Presumably because I booked online and in advance. For central London, I thought the price very reasonable - please keep it this way! We had no problems at all with the room apart from it was a little hot for our liking so we had to sleep with the window open as we could find no temperature control/air-con. Overall great stay . We would definitely use the Novotel again when travelling to London. It has a special place in our hearts as our son was consumated in this hotel.nudge nudge wink wink....

...I stayed at the Mercure in December 2005. It was a bit of last minute booking - booked it on the Friday and then travelled on the Monday. Due to this it was the literally the only place in central London available for the week and prior to this I had never even heard of the hotel!
Location - It is literally just behind the Tate Modern and Millenium Bridge. It is about 10mins walk from the hotel to the nearest tube at London Bridge so it is relatively easy to get about.
Rooms - Rooms are basic. Similar to staying in an Ibis or Travellodge. They do have everything you need though - TV, tea and coffee facilities etc. And they seemed clean.
Facilities - The hotel has a small gym. In has a restaurant and bar but I never ate or drink so can't comment on this. Staff all seemed relatively friendly.
Price - It was between £60 - £70...

I'm a big fan of Ibis hotels and stay in them for both business and pleasure. I had, however, read a bad opinion of the London Euston branch, so when I found myself needing to stay in Euston the other night it was with slight trepidation that I booked... more
