Birmingham NEC is probably the nearest (half decent) venues near me. When I say the nearest it's still four hours drive away. That's what I get for living out in the sticks. I have lost count of the amount of times I have been to Birmingham NEC so I shall just list some of the times I can remember. Motorshow 2000
Max Power show 2000 Autosport show 2000 Metallica (some years ago) Clothes Show 1998 So what's it like? Well, big, I suppose, big compared ... ...can you?). The NEC is made up of lots of rooms, all joined together then the big concert room where, obviously, it all happens. I have no idea how many people fit in the NEC, depends on the concert I suppose and if there are standing places or not. The stage at the front has the usual flat surface then raised seating all around it so that everyone can see. If you are sitting right at the back the person on the stage will only be two inches high. ...

Advantages: Page 3 girls Disadvantages: Expensive day out to see Nova SRi with luminous paint
...It is on at the NEC during July and is full of hot hatches and plenty of page 3 models like Jordan. It is smaller than the other motor show using only 1 hall and a track outside where cars race around and do wheelspins and handbrake turns. Its just as noisy inside with huge speakers pumping out loud bass constantly. It is expensive of £15 for a ticket and another £3 if you want to see the wheelspins outside and then there's the usual NEC ripp off ...

Advantages: Gorgeous models the cars aren't bad either Disadvantages: price of refreshments
...It is held at the NEC which is massive. It takes about a day to check out all the car makers stands. Usually there are a couple a cars that are launched there every time, last time was the Jaguar S class. There are a lot of freebies of keyrings and posters and every car stand has about 10 georgeous models giving out posters. You can get in the cars and check out the engines etc. and its quite a good day out. But take your own food and drink unless ...

Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Price of refreshments
...I have been to the NEC I have driven and the sign posts for car park are excellent. Although the car parks are a bit of a walk away from the arena they do provide a free bus service. One thing before catching the bus get your car park ticket, this costs £6. Without this you cannot get out of the car park later. Best to get it early rather than after the event otherwise you will be queuing ages.
When getting in the arena bags are checked as you go ... ...walkways are very well lit.
Once at your car it's a free for all for everybody to get out.
If you decide not to drive the Nec is local to a train station.
Visit the website to see what's on.
