Advantages: A very nice place with friendly people Disadvantages: You have to come home again
...Stephens Cathedral
This is in the centre of town and can be seen from nearly even where in Vienna due to its huge size. The nearest U-Bahn station is at Stephanplatz. This Cathedral is breath taking from both in and outside. You can enter for free to have a look round between 0600am and 1000pm, however donations are always welcome in boxes in the doorways.
P.S. for a nice fairly priced restaurant in the area can I recommend Rosenberger, which is about five minutes walk. It’s a self-service place that serves nice beer (but limited collection) and wine.
Schloss Belvedere
This is the Belvedere Palace, and has recently been restored and is one of Vienna’s most important landmarks. This lovely Palace is in two sections Lower and Upper Belvedere and are about 10 minutes slow walk away from each other through the immaculate gardens...

B Belvedere
The two palaces (Upper Belvedere and Lower Belvedere) have been built as the summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy, an important Austrian military strategist who defeated the Turks in 1683 after they besieged Vienna and he defeated the French Army of Louis XIV at Blenheim in 1704 (together with the Duke...

...head in the morning it is recommended to use the following days to conquer Vienna in concentric circles: start off at the Secession with its Beethovenfries, visit the Karlskirche, the Hundertwasserhaus, the Belvedere and Schönbrunn castles, nearby the oldest zoo in the world, shop in the Mariahilferstraße, go to a concert of the Vienna Philharmonic, a performance in the Opera, admire Klimts and Rubens paintings or have superb dining in the Steirereck, Austrias finest Haute Cuisine., located in the Stadtpark, reservations strongly recommended
Hint #9: you will be dead tired after a day of sightseeing and look for a decent bed to sleep in: the price range runs from € 40 for a double room in a two star Pension up to top end accomodation in one of the Ring hotels Bristol or Imperial for up to € 500. For backpackers there are cheap rooms...
