...After visiting Romania six times I have picked up some survival tips along the way. I hope this advice helps anyone planning to travel to Bucharest (Romania)? After the initial shock of arriving in this new country and not knowing whether the natives are friendly, I started to discover some of the cities best kept secrets. These secrets have made my time here surprising, enjoyable, and unforgettable. Firstly the things you need to know; Romania is in the Eastern European time zone (GMT +2hours). When you arrive in Bucharest do not catch a taxi on the side of the road always order on the phone or ask a receptionist/waiter to order for you, they will probably rip you off if you don't. Never keep your belongings in a place which is easily accessible, there are many pick-pockets here always be overly cautious! You may see outside... Read review

...First come to Bucharest, then try to understand it, then complete your judgement !!! I live in Bucharest and would never give it for any other town in the world ! I feel here as this is the place for my soul, the place where my soul can rest !!! Of course, 95% of whoever comes from abroad it`s SHOCKED by what he(she) sees in here, but I think that`s because here life, work, personal realisation is not taken as seriously as in Western Europe; plus that, in here, social rules are not considered as much as some would expect... You can see here a lot of free dogs on the streets (they are much more bad than the most of the people), homeless, garbage piles on side streets, but alos you can meet people that think in a way you never thought possible (not in a bad way), breath-taking wild lanscapes, and overall the contact with a civilisation... ...We had immense trouble deciding on a hotel for my husband's birthday break in Amsterdam. We're trying to find a reasonably priced hotel that wasn't too shabby and in a decent location. After reviewing all the options, we went for the NH City Centre, if only because of it's 1920's styling and proximity to town. We were not disappointed. The hotel is lovely with each room finished beautifully, if you like the modern thing (and we do!). The overall atmosphere is very calm and serene. It took us forever to find the hotel, but that may have been because I insisted, as I had been to Amsterdam a couple of times before, that finding our way around would be easy, we could walk there and we didn't need a map. About an hour later we finally found the back of the hotel, exhausted from dragging our suitcases up and down a zillion canals... Read review
