Advantages: Chilled out, good wine, handy for the Andes and Chile Disadvantages: Relatively small
...I stayed in Mendoza for 4 nights, and enjoyed my time there. One of the main things I noticed was the low price level - especially if you are travelling from the UK. This is a huge advantage that Argentina has at the moment, and it means that you can get by very comfortably on £20/day.
There are 3 main reasons that I can see to visit Mendoza: food (especially steak), wine and as a gateway to the Andes. The steaks are absolutely superb, as well as being great value for money - you won't find a better or cheaper chunk of beef anywhere in the world. Mendoza is also famous for its many wineries, and you can easily cycle round a few of them as a day trip (if you are energetic), taking advantage of free samples... As for the Andes mountains, they are perfect for climbing, hiking and other outdoor pursuits, and Mendoza is very...

Advantages: 15min to airport, close to Barcelona's Business Centre & Football Stadium! Disadvantages: Outdoor pool is closed during the winter season.
...I had to stay in this hotel on my second visit to Barcelona as NH Calderon was fully booked. This hotel is located only 15min away from Barcelona's airport with an easy access to the various principal connections which is quite convenient. Metro Station Les Corts on Line 3 which is in Green Colour is only 5min walk from NH Rallye and hughe shopping centre El Court Engles is just one metro stop away at Maria Christina Metro Station located in Barcelona's business centre! Metro costs Euro 1.00 for a single destination so I guess its cheap in comparison with London's Tube Fares. It is also not far from Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla. It took us about 14min from Les Courts metro station to Catalunya and Liceu! NH Rallye is also very close to the Stadium where football fans can spend most of their time! :)
In terms of the building...

Advantages: Cheap, incredibly varied Disadvantages: Need to travel around to get the best out of it
...At the moment, Argentina is an incredibly cheap place to visit, but even at US/European prices it would be worth going. It really does have every kind of feature you could ask for, and though you might have to travel around a bit to take advantage of this, that's a small price to pay.
I visited Beunos Aires, Mendoza and Las Lenas, staying 3 weeks altogether, and was filled with good impressions. Argentinian people are very friendly and approachable, and the lone traveller will have no problems meeting people, especially in hostels. As an English-speaker though, I would warn others that you won't be able to rely on English as you would in Europe - basic Spanish is a bare minimum to enjoy an Argentinian trip. If you can speak only English, you won't have a lot of choice in where you go.
In a (ski) resort like Las Lenas you'll be OK...

Anyone who has read any of my previous reviews will have probably realised that I will use any excuse to travel. This year the plan was to spend most of it at home as we are saving money for our wedding, but when one of my friends announced that he was... more
