Advantages: Cheap, Clean, Nice staff Disadvantages: Ibis Hotels are a little repetitive and bland..
...An IBIS hotel.. what can I say. Have you stayed in an IBIS before? Then you have stayed in IBIS Dortmund.
Where is it?
A bit of a trek, but a walkable trek, outside the main part of town. Located on a big but unexciting street. The street has exciting things such as closed shops and a car dealership. Typical back of town street. Its not so far from a train station with an unpronounceable name (info on the website), but this is most definitely not the central train station and was no help to us. To get to the hotel from the Central Train station we walked up through the centre of town, and then out and then out some more and just as I was about to start snapping "You have the directions wrong" there she appeared.. phew. There is a map on the IBIS website (link below) with directions, though the directions are in German. Its...

Advantages: fair entrance fees, lots of things to do Disadvantages: ---
...When I'm somewhere in a fairly big city I'm always looking for possibilities to relax and enjoy the silence, far away from traffic and busy people. This applies for holidays just as much as for my every day life and one nice place to do so is the "Westfalenpark" in Dortmund, Germany.

Some information about Dortmund
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dortmund is situated in the west of Germany. To be more precise: It's belonging to the federal state of "North-Rhine-Westphalia" and is in the region of the "Ruhrgebiet" (after the river Ruhr). With its 588.168 inhabitants it is the sixth-biggest city in Germany. Formerly well-known because of its coal- beer- and steal-industry, it now is an important IT- and service industry...

Advantages: sort of real snow and two excellent slopes Disadvantages: none, well cold....
...This indoor ski/snowboard slope is located just to the West of Dortmund and the North of Essen. Dortmund has an airport and Bottrop is very easy to reach via train or car, Bottrop is also quite close to the border of the Netherlands so if you are on holiday there I recommend popping over for a day. Once you get into Bottrop the Alpincentre is very well signposted. Now this is one of the best indoor ski/snowboard slopes with real snow that I have been told about in the North of Germany and the staff do speak English if you get stuck or need help of any sort.
As you pull into the car park you can go either right for the top car park (which is nearly allways full) or left to the lower level car park. If you use the lower car park then here are some directions to get you into the main enterance hall. As you face the main building there...
