..., a twenty minute ride from the city centre. This is widely considered to be the finest resturant in Dusseldorf, again with a ´surperb wine menu but with prices reflecting the quality and service. While this is the best a meal for two with wine cand easily run into a four figure sum in DM, which is in excess of 350 pounds. The final greman resturant is the Weinhaus Tante Anna, which is located in the Dusseldorf Altstadt. This resturant boasts quality german cusine and an impressive wine menu and is moderately expensive. Finally in this section I would recommend tha japanese resturant edo´s which s located accross the Rhine in the subarb of Oberkassel. In a city of many Japanese people this is considered to be the finest Japanses cusine and again is rather pricy. Some resturants which fit both groups are Block House, located in the Altstadt... Advantages: Close to the main station, impressive entrance hall

...The NH Dusseldorf City is a functional business hotel which is quite close to the Dusseldorf main station. It can easily reached from there by foot or a very short taxi ride. There is also an underground station right in front of the building. The circular, multi storied atrium looks impressive, but doesn't have any cosiness to it. The dusky pink of the walls of the galleries and a huge, pale green glass installation are the main features. Our check-in was not as quick as it could have been if the hotel would have pre-filled the registration form with the data they had. The reception lady was reluctant to permit a late check-out and negotiated our proposed 4pm down to 3pm requesting us to ask the Reception Manager the next day for a permission to stay longer. Advantages: Great food, beer and friendly helpful people
Disadvantages: Weeze airport is miles away - closer to Holland!

...We recently went on a stag weekend to Dusseldorf and I can say the place is fantastically suited for this type of occasion! While the cheaper hotels may be slightly out of the town centre, the public transport system is cheap, efficient and clean, with trams every 10minutes, so getting the troops in and out to the many pubs and bars is not a problem. The main area to go is the Altstadt found by the Rhine, where more bars than I've ever seen in one area before can be found, many of which stay open til the early hours and serve tons of different beers at a reasonable price (2E for 330mL). The city itself is very clean and pleasant, the people friendly and incredibly helpful, while the Altstadt also seems to be the main area for German hen parties to go out (we ran into six separate lots!), so there is no shortage of fine frauleins out...
