Advantages: Close to town, Quiet, Nice rooms Disadvantages: Expensive bar
...We had immense trouble deciding on a hotel for my husband's birthday break in Amsterdam. We're trying to find a reasonably priced hotel that wasn't too shabby and in a decent location. After reviewing all the options, we went for the NH City Centre, if only because of it's 1920's styling and proximity to town.
We were not disappointed. The hotel is lovely with each room finished beautifully, if you like the modern thing (and we do!). The overall atmosphere is very calm and serene.
It took us forever to find the hotel, but that may have been because I insisted, as I had been to Amsterdam a couple of times before, that finding our way around would be easy, we could walk there and we didn't need a map. About an hour later we finally found the back of the hotel, exhausted from dragging our suitcases up and down a zillion canals. It IS...

Advantages: great atmosphere Disadvantages: depends on the individual faculty
...I have been a student at Friedrich-Alexander-University ERlangen-Nuremberg in southern Germany for three years. And I have to say it is quite enjoyable! However, it depends on which faculty you are a member of. The law faculty can be quite stiff upper lip and a bit cold at times. The language and literature faculties though are really great. There are many international students and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The teachers are generally helpful. Whereas the law lectures are usually very overcrowded the language, social sciences, literature etc. classes take place in small groups. You can put together your own schedule (with some regulations on what you are required to take during your years of studying), so you can really attend whatever class interests you.
The FAU university Erlangen also offers free language courses every...

Advantages: A lot of choice and diversity Disadvantages: none that I'm aware of
...I used to study American studies at FAU, and I found my stay there quite enjoyable.
First of all, I'd like to point out that the University of Erlangen is very diverse. They offer a variety of courses in various ares. You can find a complete list on their website:
www.uni-erlangen.de
The whole town is known as a university town. It is full of students and there is always something going on. There are many pubs, bars and cafes and plenty of part time student job opportunities.
The atmosphere within the university itself is exceptionally good. The lectures are quite full, but the seminars or other specialist courses are kept relatively small (usually no more than 15 students, depending on the subject, of course). There is a good contact between students and teachers, and they are usually available in their office hours, after...
