Advantages: incredibly clean, lots of room for guests, good VFM Disadvantages: not alot to do
Myself and my partner have just returned from a week in the H10 Tabourente playa and thought that the hotel itself was brilliant, one of the best hotels ive stayed in. the only thing that let the holiday down is the lack of activities.
We booked the holiday through Thompson back in April and got a very good deal for a 4* hotel. when we arrived we had a 5minute transfer to the hotel (you can see the airport from most of the hotel rooms), reception were a bit slow in booking everyone in but the reception staff seemed very friendly and spoke excellent english.
The room itself was on the 4th floor so had good views of the pool area, a partial sea view and full view of the airport (which is ok as there are about 4 flights a day, last leaving about 9pm so minimal disruption). The bathroom was clean with plenty of towels for us, nice size ...
Advantages: Clean, Good Selection of Shops & Restaurants for the size, Easily Accessible. Disadvantages: Uncomfy Chairs!
actually 2 runways belonging to this airport although only 1 is in full usage.
** Location **
LasPalmas airport is located in the North East of the island of Gran Canaria. The nearest city is that of LasPalmas, the capital, which is just over 11 miles away while the more tourist resorts of Playa del Ingles, Maspalomas and Puerto Rico are on the south coast of the island. However due to the size of the island the majority of towns in Gran Canaria are accessible within about forty minutes from the airport. It's also located about 2 minutes from the main? oh and only motorway on the island!
** Arrivals **
As with quite a few foreign airports located on smaller islands you'll find that you actually have to leave the safety of your plane and walk straight onto the runway! A somewhat scary experience but at least you get your first ...
Advantages: Clean and Tidy, good shops Disadvantages: Expect panic at the gates if your flight is delayed
LasPalmas, on the face of it a tidy, well organised airport. Plenty of desks open to check in for flights and plenty of shops and places to eat.
Direction arrows to Toilets are hopeless, when you get there, they are often closed. Anyway, if you arrive at the airport and flight is delayed beware of a Gran Canarian habit. Don't believe them. Our flight was delayed, no indication of exact time, except it may be 30 minutes. Plenty of time for us to shop, eat and get bored you would think. Not a bit of it. Board says Flight Delayed, Gate 12 and continues to say this. We decide to go for a snack, as we don't know when we eat next. Next thing we know, the announcement goes up, Last Call for Gatwick.
