everyone will get up to leave, don't get confused with a train station half way to Venice as some people did when we went, they quickly jumped back on the coach. There is a train station IN Venice, but we did not visit it.
Finding which water bus to take is not too bad, some only go to certain stops; others go directly to Lido Island, some go around the outsides and some go to every single stop up the Grand Canal, get on this on! Bus route 1.
FINALLY, The Hotel MANIN was the third stop after passing under the rialto bridge. The entrance to the hotel is stunning, the concierge spoke clear English and the cases where whipped away, passports checked and he escorted us up to our room. It had a small balcony looking right onto the Grand Canal, the Rialto Bridge was to our right, and so close you could hit it with a tennis ball.
The room was ...

Venice.
I was under strict instructions to make sure I was off duty for my birthday but unfortunately I was unable to arrange to have the time off until the following week for what was supposed to be a special birthday surprise.
Unfortunately due to a couple of circumstances beyond our control I actually found out that my birthday treat was to be a trip to Venice. I couldn?t believe it as I have always wanted to go there but never imagined it would happen this way. I would have probably gone into heart failure had I found out about it at the airport so it was probably for the best I found out about it anyway.
Unable to cancel the trip we decided to go ahead with the visit and boy was I surprised and excited.
The night before the trip to Venice we had gone to London to see a show and to have dinner and due to an oversight ...

Advantages: Lively, interesting and different. Disadvantages: A bit expensive
There is so much written about Venice so I thought I would write about the practical things which I thought about or affected me rather than an in depth history of any place or building I visited.
If you are interested in visiting Venice I am sure you will have your favourite attractions.
The guide books say there are about 400 bridges; they are not as tiring on the legs as you might imagine. There was a lack of children walking and in pushchairs and I had to resist the urge to help the workmen dragging, single handed, large boxes and allsorts on barrows up and down the stairs; that is part of their everyday life.
In England it would be hard to imagine how people go about their daily life without cars, in Venice everything is moved by boat, the postal services, parcels, logs for building in fact all kinds of building materials ...

Manufacturer's product description
The NH Manin is located in an old palace owned by the Barocci family, built in 1890 for the Pellegrino Orefice, which was historically the San't Angelo theatre, one of the seven lyrical theatres of Venice. Completely restored and converted into a hotel, with an incredibly unique position,in the main zone of the city and on the banks of the Gran Canal and 10 minutes on foot from St. Mark's Square and the Rialto bridge. The hotel has a beautiful garden where breakfast is served during the summer months. The rooms all have their own Venetian style, marble bathrooms and Venetian ceramic floors. The hotel, with a private dock is located close by to all the most important monuments of the city.
