Advantages: Safety, Size, Greenery, Location Disadvantages: Language, Entertainment possibilities
...respectable hotels anywhere close are THE most expensive ones in Munich! Try a little further out - the trains, buses and trams run so often, it won't be a problem getting around (e.g. IBIS at Nordfriedhof).
People
The Germans have a reputation of being impolite and sometimes rude, but don't let that put you off. It is true, they aren't as polite as the English, but if you've read Jeremy Paxton's "The English", I am sure you'll be more conscious of this. It isn't really that the Germans don't want to talk to you, it has a lot to do with the way they learn English, namely very rigidly, and most strive for perfection, which is why you will find their English surprisingly good (if you ever manage to get them over their initial apprehensions).
Safety
Really there isn't too much to say on this topic. Munich is THE safest city I...

Advantages: one of the must-see cities in Germany Disadvantages: none really
...Last summer I was in Munich to see an art exhibition. I didn´t have any plans for the afternoon and when I saw a leaflet ´Munich Walk Tours in English´, (from May 17th to August 31st daily 10:45 am and 3:00 pm, from Sept. 1st to Oct. 31st daily 10:45, meeting point in front of the town hall entrance under the Glockenspiel on Marienplatz, 9 Euro, under 26 years 8 Euro, children under 14 with an adult free), I thought, why not? Advantages: Christmas markets in Munich are great ! Disadvantages: Too many tourists and weather was terrible

The Third Reich tour is about 2.5 hours and for the Dachau camp, you should allow 4 hours. We went by ourselves and wasn't a problem. But if you are not confident with taking the public transport (40 minutes one way), then you should join a tour.
Third Reich Tour:
This is like a mini history lesson for about 3 hours. You will go around Munich, following...
