Oakleigh Guest House

Advantages: A warming, pleasant atmosphere with spotless rooms and good service
Disadvantages: Decor not particularly modern

I currently live in Stourport on Severn in the heart of Worcestershire and recently had some distant relatives come to visit for the weekend and we needed somewhere for them to stay as our house just wasn?t big enough to accommodate the whole family. In the end we decided to book a couple of rooms at the Oakleigh Guest House as I had heard good reviews on the place from friends. ~Location~ Oakleigh Guest House is situated right in the heart of Stourport on Severn town centre so is in a perfect location to access all the local amenities. However it is situated far enough away from the main High Street so that you don?t get the noise from the pubs on a Friday and Saturday Night. The guest house is situated on York Street in Stourport on Severn and is situated right next to the canal lock and overlooks the basin and river which ...

Be Warned This place is worse that a squat!

Advantages: Cheap as Chips
Disadvantages: Everything, do you want the list

Well, where do I start? My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere to go over the Easter bank holiday, and decided that we would go and have a look at Oxford. I was looking around on the Internet for somewhere reasonable to stay and came across Nanford Guest house. From the pictures it looked nice and rustic, and it wasn't too badly priced. It was walking distance from the centre too. My other half kindly phoned them up, and booked us in for a couple of nights, and gave them is visa card number to secure the booking. This itself is not unusual to us. As it was getting closer I was really looking forward to our break, just to get away for a bit, but my boyfriend was getting a bit dubious about the hotel. On the Sunday morning we had a nice drive down to Oxford, and drove round in circles for a bit trying to find ...

Fathers Guest House, great place in the Cameron Highlands

Advantages: Location, views, surroundings
Disadvantages: Disappointing dorm room

Fathers Guest house has the perfect location on a small hill overlooking the tiny town of Tanah Rata in the Cameron highlands. Situated outside the town, but only a 3 minute walk into it, it has fantastic views and is tranquil but still has access to any activities the town has to offer. If you call the owners in advance letting them known when you will arrive then they will collect you from the town and save the walk up the hill with heavy bags. They also tend to be one of the touts who wander the bus drop off area and so if you arrive by bus then there is almost always someone there who you can ask to get a lift up the hill. Driving up towards the guesthouse the first thing that is obvious is that this is a beautiful area. The views from the top go right across the town and amongst the rolling hills of the area. The Cameron highlands ...
