Advantages: There's a taxi rank next to it if you're desperate for a taxi. Disadvantages: Trannies, blokes, bad attitude, expensive drinks, small, dingy and dirty
Napoleons is one of the oldest, if not THE oldest, gay club in the village. And it's this element that causes problems.
Of a Wednesday and the weekend the place becomes a club for transvestites, and while I have no problem with gender benders it seems to attract a lot of the worse element of the village. But more on that later.
As you enter the club you'll be accosted by a 'bouncer' called Ernie. This guy is looks pretty ... ...worse, and it seems that Napoleons is a magnet for every over 40, fat and bald bloke who fancies hairy blokes in a dress.
Go upstairs via a steep narrow staircase and you're on the dancefloor more or less. The walls are covered with mirrors and I guess this is why it's popular with the trannies. They tend to dance staring at the mirrors and if any one approaches them, major bitching usually ensues. The toilets on this floor aren't ... more

As you enter the club you'll be accosted by a 'bouncer' called Ernie. This guy is looks pretty harmless, and you'll wonder would he be able to keep order if there was trouble. I've been told he would. Once you've paid the £2 for entry (free if you're a tranny or real girl) you're actually in the main bar area.
The club itself is dingy and the main bar area downstairs is the only place there are seats and even then there aren't that many. The music is supplied by a video recording from MTV or VH1 and played on about 3 TV (no pun intended) screens. As the night wears on the music starts to get terrible and goes from chart stuff to gay music from the early 80 and late 70s. The toilet downstairs is best avoided as it's filthy and claustrophobic.
The clientelle are bitchy, rude, obnoxious and thats just the trannies. The blokes are even worse, and it seems that Napoleons is a magnet for every over 40, fat and bald bloke who fancies hairy blokes in a dress.

The toilets on this floor aren't anything special either, but at least they're cleaner than the downstairs ones.
Drinks prices in Naps are pretty expensive, and in some cases more expensive than clubs such as Paradise Factory and Essential.
The main problem will come when you're leaving Naps as it's more or less opposite where the Chorlton St coach station used to be and it's right next to the Village Cabs taxi rank. Leaving Naps any time after midnight will involve you being accosted by hookers, thugs, Big Issue vendors and the other assorted Village detritus. Not what you want as many are off their face on drink and/or drugs and often threatening.
Naps is best avoided unless you really are desperate to see some ugly guys in dresses and the older, grotty side of the village. I'm sorry I can't be positive about it, but I have been a few times and this has been my experience every time.
Advantages: Close to just about everything you'll ever want to see in Rome Disadvantages: It's a hotel, not home.
We've stayed at the Napoleon twice now and it just gets better and better!
Any review is only ever as good as the impression it gives to the reader and how much information can be taken away from it. So let me give you a few facts about this gem of Roman hospitality. Firstly mention simply must be made of the staff because, bless 'em, they are probably what gives the Napoleon it's great, beating heart. English is more and more the lingua franca of the traveler these days and the visitor to the Napoleon will find that all the desk staff are pretty fluent. Not only do they speak the language, they do it with a smile and a "can do" attitude which is simply breathtaking. Rooms are kept spotless. Breakfast is inclusive and buffet style, you'll be attended by staff who are alert yet unobtrusive. Metro Line B is just outside the door and if ...
Advantages: very interesting, and a very impressive Army Museum Disadvantages: a bit pricey compared to more mainstream attractions
Despite the numerous streets and locations named after Napoleon I (or after people related to him), his tomb is usually not regarded as a prime attraction of Paris. This is a pity, because the Dome des Invalides, Napoleon's tomb, and the adjoining Musee de l'Armee, are attractions I invariably re-visit every time I have a few days to spare in Paris. So far I have visited Invalides four times: June 1991, October 1997, October 1998, and July 1999. It has remained intensely interesting to this day.
The main attraction is, of course, Napoleon's tomb. This tomb is set under the golden dome of the Invalides, which is plainly visible from just about every major vantage point in the city. Napoleon, who was originally buried in St. Helena, his place of exile, was later moved here in accordance with his wishes to "be buried on the banks ...

Advantages: Better for families than much of the Cote d'Azur Disadvantages: Gets very crowded and is a bit over developed
on the promenade d'Anglais at Nice, perhaps he intends to give them somewhere to live.
It was near here that in 1815 Napoleon landed back in France after fleeing exile in Elba, so starting his journey to defeat at Waterloo one hundred days later. There are many museums of Napoleon to be found across the south of France, all that I have visited are poor with third rate collections and unless you are looking for somewhere to escape a thunderstorm are best ignored.
At the Pinede in Juan les Pins there is a small amusement park with a merry go round, dodge'ums, mini-train and a free childrens play area. In the summer months there are also donkey rides which are much enjoyed by my younger visitors.
Marine Land is a short journey towards Nice and is a good if quite expensive day out. If you go and wish to stay dry sit well back from the killer whales ...
