National Museum of Modern Art, Guatemala City

Advantages: WARNING- LONG REVIEW. Loads to see and do for adults and kids.
Disadvantages: WARNING LONG REVIEW. Poor disabled facilites and cafe.

...My other half has been on holiday this week, combine that with our 4th anniversary, Mothers day and an in-service day at my sons school it was the perfect opportunity for some good old family fun, among the day trips we took was a visit to Bristol City Museum & Art Gallery. It's a great attraction for us living in Bristol and with free entry it's perfect for our ever expanding family as it doesn't break the bank. Getting to the museum is simple enough for us, as we're local, but the parking is a real problem, being situated in the middle of busy Queens Road, at the top of Park Street, in Clifton, it is near impossible to find a space nearby and we always park in the Frogmore street NCP and walk the 5 minute trip up the road, past the university buildings and into the museum. Advantages: something to do on a bored Saturday
Disadvantages: not that entertaining

...include ‘Boulder’, a sphere of brown packing tape begun in 1996, and now mow than 1m in diameter.” No doubt that creating this large ball was incredibly taxing for the artist, Elizabeth Price, but gaining recognition for something that resembles an oversized Malteser doesn’t exactly seem fair. Only a few months ago I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City with a friend of mine to see the new display there. I don’t recall the artist, but then I am not inspired to feel guilty about it as his “masterpiece” seemed to be an extremely large canvas dropped in a can of black paint with a barely-there stripe of gray down the side. Fascinating. Truth be told, my annoyance with modern art has been surging forward ever since my high school art class did an entire unit on Jackson Pollack. Okay. Advantages: A nice little museum full of goodies
Disadvantages: A tad old-fashioned perhaps

...the intersection with Rajpath and a block and a bit from the India Gate. It doesn't seem to attract the attention that I believe it deserves. I've had several city tours with various holidays in Delhi but nobody has ever included the National Museum, or for that matter, even mentioned its existence. I always feel a little bit like I discovered it for myself although it is - of course - in all the guide books. If you are going to take a taxi or a tuk tuk to the museum, be aware that it's not a busy area and relatively little traffic passes the museum so you may want to get a driver to wait for you or ask him to come back later at an agreed time to pick you up. Alternatively, if the weather's not too hot, you could take a stroll round to the India Gate where you'll find scores of tuk-tuks to drive you to your next destination. Character... Read review
