It was incredible how we could be in a beach resort (Marco Island on the East coast of Florida) in the morning and before long be in somewhere so wild and unpredictable.
We took a river ... ...when our boat was followed by a pair of wild dolphins, jumping in and out of the water in chase. It was so lovely to watch these animals in their natural surroundings and to watch them perform under their own initiative. Much better than any aquariam park.
Our lunch consisted of alligator, frogs' legs, ostrich and other unitendifiable pieces of food. But we managed to eat it, and it really wasn't that bad!

We took a river boat trip and spotted several alligators. The highlight, however, came when our boat was followed by a pair of wild dolphins, jumping in and out of the water in chase. It was so lovely to watch these animals in their natural surroundings and to watch them perform under their own initiative. Much better than any aquariam park. The rest of the trip included visiting real American Indian residences - obviously there are no Indians there now but it was wonderful to see something that makes up so much of American culture. The trip lasted a whole day and it was so fasinating. I would recommend it to anyone who is staying close to the Evergaldes.It was one of the highlights of our holiday.

...In the early 50s the National Audubon Society accepted responsibility for the management and preservation of the area. An elevated boardwalk was constructed that allowed visitors to enjoy the wildlife and the beauty of the swamp.
The Sanctuary is open daily all year round although hours vary. Indeed it is noteworthy that the experience differs in the wet and dry seasons. It is also pointed out that mosquitoes and no-see-ums tend not to present a ... ...adults and $ 3 for children. It is sign posted from the I75 at junction 17 (Bonita Springs). The approach road is unprepossessing and leads through backwoods settlements. There is ample car parking and a sympathetic and informative gift shop. Essential to the visit is the Companion Field Guide which gives a short account of the origins of the Sanctuary and also lists, with illustrations the flora and fauna that can be seen around the area. THE KATHERINE GORGE AND NITMILUK NATIONALPARK
KATHERINE:
Katherine is a mining town in the Northern Territory of Australia there is not alot in the actual town but the reason for coming here is to experience the surrounding area and the Nitmiluk NationalPark.
FRUIT BATS:
We were in to the coach for 7.30 and off to Katherine Gorge for our gorge boat ride. The area where you board the boat is set up for picnics with BBQs and tables with chairs and there were nice clean toilets areas too which we made good use of. There was no reception area to speak of or any gift shop so you just had to wait around out in the open. We were entertained by the flying foxes hanging in the trees; every now and then one would fly across to another tree then fold himself up and hang from a branch again. They are really quite large bats but they d not seem ...
New Zealand's highest mountain is a set of three icy peaks, the highest being 3754m above sea level, dominant in the tussocky McKenzie Country in the South Island.
Mount Cook is the central point of the Aoraki Mount Cook NationalPark and it's also prominent in the Southern Alps, grand to view when you drive along the Tekapo to Twizel long straight roads, or alongside the hydro canal which takes water to the Upper Waitaki district network of lakes, canals, rivers and hydro dams.

We spent two days of our holiday in South West USA at Utah's Zion NationalPark and we couldn't have been more impressed with the parks facilities.
It cost $20 per vehicle to enter the park, the pass is good for 7 days, and as I said in my Grand Canyon op, it could work out cheaper to buy a 12 month annual pass if you're planning to visit more than a couple of NationalParks. Once inside there is a large car park and brand new visitors centre with plenty of information and facilities.
Outside the visitors centre is the shuttle bus stop. The buses are free and run every 7 minutes. A round trip on the bus takes 90 minutes and there are plenty of places to get off and hike or site see and the next bus wont be far behind when you're ready to move on. The buses run from 5.30am to 11pm.
