Imagine a place older than Athens, older than Carthage, older than Rome; a place brimming with archaeological and historical treasures but that hardly gets any visitors in comparison with the others. Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second city, is just such a place. In 432 Plovdiv was conquered by Philip of Macedonia and under the Roman Empire it was the capital of Thrace. The legacy of the Romans alone would make Plovdiv stick out as a place of great significance but it doesn't stop there. Old Plovdiv is essentially an open-air museum with over 150 examples of Bulgarian architecture, much of it from the National Revival period. It is especially cheering to hear that the Old Town of Plovdiv is actually a town in its own right with particular emphasis on restoring and preserving notable buildings.

Here I will try to present you the city of Plovdiv and to prove you that it is worth making a vacation there.

The History

The city was founded somewhere before 6000-8000 years ago. It has had many names throughout the centuries - Kendros, Eumolpia, Philippopolis, Pulpudeva, Trimontzium (coming from Tremonteum - meaning Three Hills), Pulden, Populdin, Ploudin, Filibe and nowadays bears the name Plovdiv, which officially appeared somewhere in the 15th century. As you see, Plovdiv is a city even older than Rome, which is called "The eternal city". At the beginning the city was situated on three hills and after it exapanded, it stretched over seven hills. These hills were called Taxim, Nebet, Dzhambaz, Sahat, Dzhendem, Bunardzhik ...

Good strong healthy teeth can be affected by periodontal disease and as the disease is a progressive one it will eventually begin to loosen the teeth by damaging the root attachments and pulling the gum away from the tooth. Also regular flossing prevents the build up of bacteria which can produce acids which decay the teeth. If the bacterium isn't removed it builds into 'colonies' which is better known as plaque. Regular use of the Tepe brush will prevent plaque from forming around those hard to clean areas and will help to eliminate foul smelling breath emitted by rotting food lodged between teeth.
