Advantages Gorgeous, good cocktails, lovely people
Disadvantages Wee beasties, on sit e shops can be quite expensive!
We got married there!
We were there for three weeks and we went with thompson. For the two of us, all inclusive, including wedding, flights transfers etc, it came to about £4,500. Pretty cheap compared to a wedding at home and fantastic weather.
We were transported to the hotel in a rickety old bus blasting out reggae music, it was a great start to our holiday! I don't think they use the highway code out there though!! Buses overtaking buses on nlind corners and all that!!The scenery on the way was oput of this world. at one point we could see the sea and the sunset was amazing!
We got to the hotel and again was shocked at the size of it. It was baking hot and very humid, but there were fans everywhere it was almost like walking into a dream! The rooms had optic in them, they contained at least one very potent jamaican rum!
The beach (bloody bay) was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. it was huge with gorgeous white sands. The water was clear and warm. If you did not want to go the the beach, you could always sit at the swim up bar and sample exotic cocktails served in melon and coconut husks!Everyday around lunch time it rains, but it is warm rain and only last a short time. i stayed in the sea, as i was already wet anyway! The sotrm clears after about 30 mins and the sun comes back out to great you!
We went into the town of Negril a couple of times during the day. The people are so laid back. they were sitting out side there shops or stalls with their feet up, sometimes smoking you know what and just living life! It is a very poor country outside of the glity resorts, and each town has a bad part. In all though it was magical. Most of the things displayed on the stalls were hand crafted, it gives a nice personal touch. You will be approached and offered "ganja" or help with carrying things, but tipping from tourists is a big business there, and before long you could be pink lint!Everybody talks to you like they know you and seem proud to show off their country.
Our wedding was out of this world. Our reverend was called joseph Campbell, and he made our day very special. On the big day I was picked up by the hair and make up artist and taken to her salon. i was treated like a princess. They did all the hair and make for me and dropped off again. the hotel had arranged for flowers to be arranged for me and I was escorted down to the beach by one of the wedding planners.there was a steel band playing in the background along with the sound of the ocean. The only thing was I had to wear white flip flops as the sand was so hot!!
You can go to ocho rios and see the fall there and there is also the option to swim with dolphins in Montego bay. These events can be quite expensive, so make sure you take plenty of spending money. Most things are priced on American dollars so it is failry easy to work out prices.
there are lost of insects out there and some looked quite scary. However, I did make friends with a small lizzard (i called him eddie) who used to sit on our balcony now and then!

We are booking this hotel for November, and can't wait. Glad to see most of what you saw and did was very positive.
