Flamboyant Nassau - Bahamas

Advantages: Paradise Island
Disadvantages: Staying Too Long

snorkelling to admire the coral reef and marine life or perhaps find lost treasures? Under currents are very strong (Atlantic) so beware! If you are planning to get married, Nassau is an idyllic place. Sunsets are breathtaking. Night- life can be as exotic or challenging as you like. Restaurants from Chinese to Burger bars, I do prefer local sea-food especially the Conch (pronounced Conk") pubs where you can try the local beer called Kalik, the daiquiris or the ever present rum (there is a Baccardi distillery on the Island) or go to the Casinos (2 world Class Casinos in Nassau) and if you can't stay away from booze, try a booze cruise. Enjoy Steel Bands and jazz. Keep your belongings safe - like in any other world- wide destinations, temptation is always present! Crime is rising and there is a lack of justice for foreigners. ☼ My ...

Yankee Doodle Went to Princeton just to stay at the Nassau

Advantages: The location is fantastic
Disadvantages: It's not as special as it likes to think that it is.

For many years I worked for a company that had a US office in New Jersey which I used to visit several time each year. This was a dreary place on a soul-less industrial estate in Dayton that had little to attract visitors. However, it wasn't too far from the university town of Princeton and since many of my colleagues lived in that area, it wasn't hard to persuade the secretary who booked our hotels to book in Princeton. It was less horrible than the rest of the area and we could save a fortune on taxi fares by getting lifts with our friends. The favourite among these hotels was the Nassau Inn. I've stayed there about 10 or 12 times and would say that the best thing about the hotel is the location. Locals would tell you the key reason to stay at the Nassau is for its historic importance (it dates to the 17th century so I guess it ...

Review of Nassau Inn, New Jersey

Dirty old Nassau

Advantages: Cheap booze and jewelery
Disadvantages: Dirty, polluted, old, pushy merchants

The name Nassau conjures up images of swaying palms, white sand, a gentle surf and a light sweet breeze. Maybe it was once like that. Today though, the reality is more like crumbling concrete, loud cars, rude panhandlers, and the sweet smell of carbon monoxide. Admittedly, it isn't all like that. Paradise Island, and Cable Beach are both attractive resort areas kept in a fairly natural state. Actually, Paradise Island's Atlantis Resort is stunning - an oasis in the cold reality of modern Nassau. Why do people keep coming to the town? Mostly it's on cruise ships. The port is very large, and right at the centre of town, allowing many ships of any size to dock directly without tendering. This is a big advantage over most small ports, and Nassaua is also much cheaper to dock at for most ships. This leads to a daily influx ...
