For many years I worked for a company that had a US office in New Jersey which I used to visit several time each year. This was a dreary place on a soul-less industrial estate in Dayton that had little to attract visitors. However, it wasn't too far from the university town of Princeton and since many of my colleagues lived in that area, it wasn't hard to persuade the secretary who booked our hotels to book in Princeton. It was less horrible than the rest of the area and we could save a fortune on taxi fares by getting lifts with our friends.
The favourite among these hotels was the Nassau Inn. I've stayed there about 10 or 12 times and would say that the best thing about the hotel is the location. Locals would tell you the key reason to stay at the Nassau is for its historic importance (it dates to the 17th century so I guess it ...

Although their cars are left hand drive, they still drive on the left. The majority of the population is of African origin and very religious. Nassau, (the capital of ProvidenceIsland), has an Anglican Cathedral and many churches from all denomination.
Walking on the outskirts of Nassau I heard a jazz band, curious I turned round and saw people wearing bright colours, singing and dancing : - Festival ? Celebration of some kind? No a Funeral!
Nassau is over 4000 miles from the UK. Flight from London will take approx. 9 hours to reach Nassau's International Airport. It wasn't until the sixties that tourism started booming.

One of my most favorite travel places in the United States, Providence, Rhode Island, I found purely by accident.
I was travelling with a friend through the East, and we were headed to a very different destination in the states.

Well, as life would have it, this friend and I began talking [and as anyone who knows me knows that I cannot 'talk' when I am going to change highways or I miss the highway and get slightly lost]. and we talked and talked and laughed and had fun.
Well, before we knew it , my friend was going "oops" , we missed our highway connection, and by now we were hours off course.
I just laughed and she laughed and we both looked for the nearest 'town or city' that we could visit instead of our original destination. [We had no hotel plans as this was just a 'fun ...
