There were many places to choose from, but after searching on the Hong Kong tourism boards website (www.hktb.com) I decided to go to ShaTin.
You can catch the MTR to Kowloon Tong and then change and jump on the MTR to ShaTin station. What is there to do, where to stay and ... ...Sha Tin Park and The New Town Plaza. There is also Hong Kong Heritage Museum which is meant to be very good but I did not manage to fit this in on my trip.
I found a great guest house called Ascenion House, up in the hills overlooking the town. Trying to tell you how to get there would take up too much time, but visit there website (www.achouse.com) and you can find directions. ...*~* I went to Hong Kong last summer for 3 weeks. I stayed with some friends of the family, and i have to say, its one of the best holidays I've ever been on.
Though slightly daunting at first, i soon settled in to the Hong Kong way of life. Hong Kong is divided up into four main areas - Kowloon, Hong Kong Island, the NewTerritories and the Outlying Islands. My friends live in the New Terriories, and this gave me a chance to discover the real HongKong, and what is beyond the tourist trade. The Newterritories are very pretty, with countryside and beaches. Here is where a lot of european and american business people live.
The flight to Hong Kong was long. 14 hours to be exact. I flew non-stop to Hong Kong international airport with British Airways. Be prepared for jet lag - the time difference is GMT + 8 hours.

..., Admiralty, Central and Tsim Tsa Tsui.
-What if I don’t want to use an Octopus Card?
You can but single journey tickets at the machines in the station. They are easy to use and have English signs.
The train systems in Hong Kong are spread out across the NewTerritories, Kowloon, Hong Kong Island and outlying islands. You can get the train from the airport to almost any major tourist city area. Trains come every 3 to 5 minutes so even if you miss one as you are coming down the stairs you'll only be late by a few minutes. They are very convenient for travelling around different areas of Hong Kong and can be used in some city buses too....

...island with high speed links to the main part of the city. Hong Kong is so compacted and it is full of interesting and entertaining things to do. Shopping is taken in a major way with shopping malls hosting the designer labels. One shopping malls even has its own indoor roller coaster! Get on board the tram car that goes all the way to the top of Victoria Peak, from there see Hong Kong and beond. That's one to see if you visit. NewTerritories extends Hong Kong further and there you see what traditional life is like. If you would like to visit a village then it be safer to check with a local, as you don't want to get lost in some places. Transport is good with rail, road, and sea systems....
