Review of Shelburne Murray Hill, New York City by claire.wizzbiz

Advantages: Price, location, cleanliness
Disadvantages: Outdated decor and furniture

We stayed here for one night in April 2007 during a flying visit to NYC. It was a last minute arrangement and we booked through lastminute.com. This hotel had an excellent location. We easily walked to Times Square, Chrysler Building, Bloomingdales etc.. We also walked to China Town, although this was a bit more of a trek. The hotel was very close to an excellent steak house called The Capital Grille - which i would recommend 100% - superbe place ...
...excellent, sincere and helpful - I say sincere as this is something i found lacking in most sales people in New York. We had a suite, which had excellent space. 2 queen size beds. As a couple on holiday, we'd normally find this odd, but actually walking around NYC was exhausting, so a comfy bed each was lovely. I have to be honest, the room's furniture and decor needed updating, the sofa had a hole in it, the curtains were a bit shabby. We had just ... Read review

Great Base For A Week In New York...
Review of Affinia 50, New York City by MRDuddy

Advantages: Location..Price..Service..Quality..Staff..
Disadvantages: None..

...and all sites gave the Affinia 50 in New York top marks. So I had no hesitations reserving a suite. We were travelling to New York as a surprise trip for my brothers 30th Birthday, and on the advise of a review, I mailed prior to departure asking if they could ensure us a room with a view..This unfortunately was not attained, but we were offered another room if we wished to change. And a bottle of wine was sent up for us as a gesture. Greatly appreciated! ...
...Upon your return to the Affinia 50 after spending each day out exploring the city, you're greeted on the doorstep by the VERY (almost overly) polite doorman who utters a "Welcome home" to each resident. Gets a little tiresome after a while, but adds to the whole ambience of being in New York, I guess! All in all this was a perfect base for our week in the Big Apple and I'd definitely stay here again. If there's a group of you going over I'd highly ... Read review

No sign of Gordon Jackson
Review of Hudson Hotel, New York City by earlofaldgate

Advantages: cool bars, good location, stylish
Disadvantages: can be expensive, rooms are small

...my second stay in the Hudson hotel. Since I had gone to Australia for 2 weeks last year I didn't have enough holiday left to fit in another trip so I thought it would be wise to slip in a visit this year before I start my new job. Location We flew BA to JFK airport, a 7 hour 35 minute trip getting us into JFK in the early evening - the best way, I find, so you can stay up late to try and counter the effects of jet-lag (NY is 5 hours behind so the ...
...I would stay at the Hudson again on my next trip but despite the regular rooms being very small would not bother to upgrade. It would have been nice to have gone out onto the roof terrace but we were a couple of weeks early in the season for it to have been open, maybe next time. Good value, good location & excellent service, 9 /10 NY Tips I have found a few places that never dissapoint, so if your'e visiting you may want to try - Thai food - Holy ... Read review

Dreamy
Review of Dream, New York City by CptSergeRidic

Advantages: Location, comfort and staff
Disadvantages: slow lift - hardly a trip spoiler

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for New Year, we'd checked it out on their website and on trip advisor. We were not disappointed, beautiful reception area and helpful receptionists. When we got into the room, we were amazed - it looked just like the website. We knew we weren't going to be spending much time in the room, but we had a great night sleep every night, no noise from the street at all. The hotel is close to everything you want in the ...
...mins from times square and about 5 mins from central park and the subway station is right outside the hotel. I can't recommend this place more highly, i absolutely loved it and the bar on the top floor has amazing views over times square. Although when we went it was slightly more expensive than normal, i still felt that we got a great deal. It depends what you're looking for in a hotel and how much you are prepared to pay. This is a reasonably ... Read review

The Roger Williams Hotel
Review of The Roger Williams, New York City by NcNyc

Advantages: comfortable room, friendly staff, mezzanine
Disadvantages: none

...that seem to rise to the sky. Glistening sun and earth tones cause a feeling of warmth to seep to your very core. Instantly, a bellhop approaches and offers to take your bags. Your feet follow him, but your head keeps turning back to marvel. At the front desk, a very friendly clerk greets you in a very friendly manner. The check-in process is quick and handled with courtesy and respect --- no confusion, no waiting and no errors. The bellhop escorts ...
...is modern, stylish and spacious. The bellhop explains all of the amenities. He says, “If you want anything all you have to do is ask”. So, a few minutes later you pick up the phone and you do --- ask. You hang up and just like magic everything you want is delivered with a smile. You think, “I won’t have to go without anything.
