Bentley Hotel - New York New York!!!! Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!! ...Anyway we stayed at The Bentley Hotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there. ABOUT THE HOTEL The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice. It has 197 rooms in total, which range in quality depending on which sort you book. We had a regular ... ...wet and warm! The Bentley provides quite a few services for it’s guests, which I will tell you about, but we never used any of these so I cannot comment on their usefulness or how good they were. Laundry/Valet service Room Service Safety Deposit boxes Hotel parking at a charge of $20 for 24 hours. Pan American Advantages: Good Prices, Lovely Staff, Good Location Disadvantages: None I have stayed at this hotel twice and have just returned from my latest stay. --Cost-- The cost is generally alot lower than other hotels which are in Manhattan. We just paid £500 for a 5 night stay there in a room with 2 double beds for 4 people. --Location-- The hotel is situated on Queens Blvd in Queens. This is around 20/30 mins ride from JFK and around 30 mins into Manhattan. There are quite a few shops and restaurants close to the hotel ... ...15 minute walk on the same road is Queens Mall where there are loads of shops including a Macys and JC Penneys. The subway station is around a 10 minute walk in the same direction. Buses stop directly outside the hotel. Its a pretty quiet neighbourhood and i always felt safe in the day and night. --The Hotel-- Although not new the hotel is in good shape. The reception is pretty roomy with a god few chairs for people who want to sit. Howard Johnson Inn, Albany Advantages: easy to get to, on main hotel/recreation strip into the city Disadvantages: dated, noisy My wife and I stayed here for 1 night in early September 2006. The place is easy to find, on the busy main hotel/motel/restaurant strip on the outskirts of the city. The hotel has the appearance and feel of a motel from the moment you drive in, from the reception area to the rooms. there is plenty of parking and we found no problems getting our car right outside our room. Our room was on the ground floor at the rear of the premises. the room was ... ...hairdryer, coffee maker etc, however everything looked a bit old and tired. I was concerned about security, as the doors and locks did not appear too substantial, and being round the back of the premises with the door leading directly on to the car park, I felt a little uneasy. There may have been CCTV monitoring the car park however I could not see any. Some of the hotel appeared to be under renovation, with a complete wing out of service. In The Middle Of It All Advantages: Great rooms, Great Service, Great Internet Access, Great Breakfast Disadvantages: Noisy rooms, No free food/drink in the rooms ...York, I will use Hotel Metro again, they are the cheapest one that we could find, but which still looked decent enough. They provided an excellent service and you really can’t beat that. The rooms were small, but lovely still. Well worth the money and it provided us with a great place to stay at the end of the day. Pictures If you take a look at the picture in the middle, I’ll talk you through what they are of. The top left picture is a picture ... ...you can see is the rooftop terrace. To the right of that picture you should be able to see the empire state building at night. This picture was taken from the rooftop terrace and I thought it was pretty beautiful.
