Rude and impossible receptionist
Review of La Quinta Manhattan, New York City by henkwill

Advantages: Nice location
Disadvantages: Impossible reception

...past I stayed at the La Quinta hotel at the Ontario airport in California. There I had the most wonderful stay. I told a friend about it and because of that he stayed at the La Quinta in Santa Rosa New Mexico and had a very pleasant stay as well. Those experiences moved the La Quinta chain clearly up on our lists of hotel-preferences. That's also why I booked the La Quinta again in Manhattan. Accessibility. The hotel is very close to a number of ...
...before (not even in the La Quintain in Los Angeles). He even had the guts to say that he wasn't obliged to let me into the hotel if I didn't show a passport. When I had half of my suitcase unpacked (in order to search for my passport), he complained about the contents of my suitcase being displayed in public, while it was him in the first place who had demanded me to do so. To be frank, I think that this man should find another job. Housekeeping ... Read review

Do Not Stay Here
Review of Milford Plaza Hotel, New York City by RLH77075

Advantages: Near Times Square
Disadvantages: Hotel is Pathetic

...conference who was in the Milford said that they had some problem or another with their rooms. I don't know if the hotel is salvageable. The amount of rennovation it would take to make these rooms worth staying in is probably greater than the cost to demolish and rebuild. On the positive side, the hotel staff was very pleasant. But then they probably feel guilty each time they check somebody in. If this hotel were the only option I had to stay during ... Read review

Beware Of Charges!!
Review of Oxbridge Apartments Carnegie Hill, New York City by Stephen74

Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Customer Service, Hidden Charges, Quality Of Bedrooms

...were charged over £200 by Oxbridge without notification for plumbing services to fix the bathroom toilet after we had informed them that there was a problem with the toilet drainage. We informed the contact person immediately after discovering that the drainage wasn't working properly and some time later were met by the contact person who refused to speak to us for over an hour whilst he checked the toilet out. With a very young child, we were left ...
...this company, including some who Oxbridge have tried to charge for similar problems with the toilet. The apartment has, in my opinion, some sub-standard facilities that are not properly working and in our case we were charged for informing Oxbridge of the problem. The big issue I have with this is that we weren't informed of the charges whilst we were in the US and so had no method of complaint. I strongly advise people to steer clear of this apartment ... Pretty decent budget hotel in the Big Apple
Review of Herald Square, New York City by MarcoG

Advantages: Good price, good location
Disadvantages: Bad shower, stuffy room

...GRAND TOTAL FOR THE HERALD SQUARE HOTEL: 7/10 (52/70 to be exact) I'm giving 3 stars, due to the small but irritating problems we had as explained above. If I was to stay again, I trust I would be able to give it 4 stars. Would I stay the again?: When we stayed at the Herald, it was going through a series of renovations. Which meant that we could hear workmen too-ing and fro-ing outside our door and as we left each morning. They left ...
...which weren't appreciated, but weren't too much of a hindrance either, if I'm honest. It's also worth mentioning that the hotel as a strict no smoking policy throughout. But would I go back? You know what? I think I would. I've stayed in better, cheaper and closer (to Times Square) hotels before in New York, so if these were unavailable, I would check this one out again. The street area looks a bit scabby and daunting, but we never had any reason ... Read review
