Bentley Hotel - New York New York!!!! Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!! ...Anyway we stayed at The Bentley Hotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there. ABOUT THE HOTEL The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice. It has 197 rooms in total, which range in quality depending on which sort you book. We had a regular ... ...wet and warm! The Bentley provides quite a few services for it’s guests, which I will tell you about, but we never used any of these so I cannot comment on their usefulness or how good they were. Laundry/Valet service Room Service Safety Deposit boxes Hotel parking at a charge of $20 for 24 hours. A great hotel for a great price! Advantages: Excellent rooms, friendly staff, transportation links, facilities near by. Disadvantages: Lifts can only fit 2/3 people with suitcases in. ...near to the city and that has good transportation links. We are hoping to go back to NYC next year and we would definately go back to the Belleclaire. THE PORTLAND SQUARE HOTEL, NEW YORK Advantages: BRILLIANT LOCATION 30 SECOND WALK TO TIMES SQUARE, CHEAP, CLEAN AND TIDY. Disadvantages: BASIC NO FRILLS, DECOR A BIT DATED, STAFF (APART FROM MANAGER) Myself and partner stayed at this hotel during a visit in febuary 06, the hotel is very easy to find upon arrival and we were checked in quickly by hotel staff and shown to our room. The room whilst very basic was clean and tidy, suitable to our needs. The staff in the hotel were not the most helpful/friendly but were efficient. They did however manage to overcharge my credit card by 5 times the total bill for staying, therefore not being able to ... ...days for refund to go thru. so my advice on check-in is do not leave your credit card, they will take a small cash depoit, aprox £50. Anyway on a more positive note the location of the hotel could not be better, times square is literally around the corner. For the cost of the stay i would have to say we were very pleased and would certainly re-visit, in new york you spend very little time in your hotel room so why pay for an expensive hotel??. They ... Refurb work on hotel disappointing Advantages: Breakfast, free internet, location Disadvantages: refurb work, not very good staff Stayed in June 2008, I was told there would be minor refurbishment work taking place between the hours of 9 and 5. I was ok with this as I would be out exploring the city at these times. We were also told that our floor would not be worked on whilst we were there. Our floor had no wall paperor carpets and the smell of paint was awful, there was also a numebr of workmen starting as early as 7.30 and I saw some on an evening too. Apart from this I ... ...downstairs was a great bonus and the location was great, situated between the empire state building and maceys. Great Experience in Soho Advantages: Price, friendly staff, free breakfast Disadvantages: Location for some people maybe The price of this hotel via Expedia drew me to it but I am SO glad I booked. From the moment you're greeted by the efficient and friendly staff you feel like you've made the right choice. We were greeted daily by the staff and often returned "home" to be offered lemonade or freshly baked cookies. The rooms are modern, clean and with very good facilities. The location, depending on your point of view, was amazing. The surreounding streets are a little ... ...in Soho but it is literally just over the road. A quick walk takes you to the excellent Soho shopping and Tribeca restaurants and also the slightly grittier area of ChinaTown was also minutes away. Subways are close by so it's easy to get to anywhere in the city. Restaurants nearby are amazing... Bubby's, Nobu, Odeon, The Harrison to name a few.
