Great location, comfortable hotel

Advantages: Location location location. Comfortable large rooms
Disadvantages: May appear dated and less cool than other hotels

We found this hotel in midtown west as part of a package through Virgin Holidays and ending up chosing is mainly on the fact it was the cheapest hotel they offered somewhere close to the middle of Manhattan. The hotel is on 10th Avenue, only a couple of blocks from Times Square (where broadway crosses 7th Avenue for an idea of street numbers). Would also add that we walked almost everywhere and felt perfectly safe in the streets around Times Square ...
...people off at much more expensive hotels during our transfer from JFK, I don't think we could have wished for a better location for the price. Our , on the 10th Avenue front of the hotel, had views of the midtown skyline, including the Empire State Building. It may not be the coolest looking hotel in town, in fact it looks like a motel from the outside, but it's comfortable. nice place to stay

Advantages: nice and quiet
Disadvantages: meals are expensive

me and the wife stayed at this hotel in 2007 and we loved it. hotel was in good area. coming out the hotel and then turning left and down to the bottom of the road and you where at central park. also on that road few blocks down and you where at museum of natural history, which is a must to see. in the area was plenty of shops and things to eat. on the corner was a citi bank and then across the road from that was starbucks coffee and resturants. ...

Howard Johnson Inn, Albany

Advantages: easy to get to, on main hotel/recreation strip into the city
Disadvantages: dated, noisy

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night in early September 2006. The place is easy to find, on the busy main hotel/motel/restaurant strip on the outskirts of the city. The hotel has the appearance and feel of a motel from the moment you drive in, from the reception area to the rooms. there is plenty of parking and we found no problems getting our car right outside our room. ...hairdryer, coffee maker etc, however everything looked a bit old and tired. I was concerned about security, as the doors and locks did not appear too substantial, and being round the back of the premises with the door leading directly on to the car park, I felt a little uneasy. Huge Suites, Low Prices

Advantages: Location, size of rooms, free breakfast
Disadvantages: None

...once an apartment block which Best Western bought and converted into a hotel. This means that for the price of a standard room you get an amazing deal. Our 'suite' consisted of a large lounge, a large double bedroom with wall-to-wall fitted wardrobes, a good sized bathroom with bath and shower and a kitchen. The bedroom had its own tv and was spacious enough that had you needed a rollaway bed to fit 5 people in the suite then this would be do-able. ...

Good base for your holiday

Advantages: close to the attractions
Disadvantages: no frills.

...nights and stayed at the Americana inn. We book it through Thomas Cook, and so had no direct dealings with the inn until we arrived in New York. The Inn was very easy to find when we arrived, just get the airport bus to Bryant Park and the hotel is about 2 blocks from there (really not far at all). The bus is only $15 and is a 20 minute journey, which is much cheaper than a taxi. Then from getting off the bus the hotel is only 2 blocks away. It is ...
...and The New York Public Library and there is a subway stop at Bryant park. Perfect location for all your sight seeing! It is a double door with buzzer, plus if you go up the lift or stairs you have to pass through reception so they can see who has come in, which is great for security.
