Great Experience in Soho
Advantages: Price, friendly staff, free breakfast Disadvantages: Location for some people maybe
The price of this hotel via Expedia drew me to it but I am SO glad I booked. From the moment you're greeted by the efficient and friendly staff you feel like you've made the right choice. We were greeted daily by the staff and often returned "home" to be offered lemonade or freshly baked cookies. The rooms are modern, clean and with very good facilities. The location, depending on your point of view, was amazing. The surreounding streets are a little ... ...in Soho but it is literally just over the road. A quick walk takes you to the excellent Soho shopping and Tribeca restaurants and also the slightly grittier area of ChinaTown was also minutes away. Subways are close by so it's easy to get to anywhere in the city. Restaurants nearby are amazing... Bubby's, Nobu, Odeon, The Harrison to name a few. We spent 10 days here and the room was easily big enough and comfortable enough for that period of time. ...

Pan American
Advantages: Good Prices, Lovely Staff, Good Location Disadvantages: None
I have stayed at this hotel twice and have just returned from my latest stay.
--Cost--
The cost is generally alot lower than other hotels which are in Manhattan. We just paid £500 for a 5 night stay there in a room with 2 double beds for 4 people.
--Location--
The hotel is situated on Queens Blvd in Queens. This is around 20/30 mins ride from JFK and around 30 mins into Manhattan. There are quite a few shops and restaurants close to the hotel ... ...15 minute walk on the same road is Queens Mall where there are loads of shops including a Macys and JC Penneys.
The subway station is around a 10 minute walk in the same direction. Buses stop directly outside the hotel.
Its a pretty quiet neighbourhood and i always felt safe in the day and night.
--The Hotel--
Although not new the hotel is in good shape.
The reception is pretty roomy with a god few chairs for people who want to sit. There is ...

Great location but little else
Advantages: Excellent location Disadvantages: Expensive
The Thomson Sixty is a relatively new "boutique" hotel in Soho New York. Location wise it is excellent, ten minutes walk away from the nearest subway, 5 minutes walk to the stylish Soho shops and excellent restaurants and bars around. Both Little Italy and Chinatown are in walking distance.
I stayed there with three friends and the hotel said we could all stay in one room. We thought this was great as it would cut down our costs, however the room ... ...Every other hotel I have stayed in in the US have had Queen or Kingsize beds.
The other problem with the hotel was the heat. It was winter so the bar conditioning had been turned off but you had no control of the heating in the bedroom. We had to leave the windows open all day and at night had to shut the window due to New York noise but the room became unbearably hot. Reception were not helpful in this matter.
the hotel bar was nice except some ...

THE PORTLAND SQUARE HOTEL, NEW YORK
Advantages: BRILLIANT LOCATION 30 SECOND WALK TO TIMES SQUARE, CHEAP, CLEAN AND TIDY. Disadvantages: BASIC NO FRILLS, DECOR A BIT DATED, STAFF (APART FROM MANAGER)
Myself and partner stayed at this hotel during a visit in febuary 06, the hotel is very easy to find upon arrival and we were checked in quickly by hotel staff and shown to our room. The room whilst very basic was clean and tidy, suitable to our needs. The staff in the hotel were not the most helpful/friendly but were efficient. They did however manage to overcharge my credit card by 5 times the total bill for staying, therefore not being able to ... ...days for refund to go thru. so my advice on check-in is do not leave your credit card, they will take a small cash depoit, aprox £50. Anyway on a more positive note the location of the hotel could not be better, times square is literally around the corner. For the cost of the stay i would have to say we were very pleased and would certainly re-visit, in new york you spend very little time in your hotel room so why pay for an expensive hotel??. They ...

Holiday Inn, Fairgrounds, Syracuse
Advantages: Easy access & parking Disadvantages: Noisy & away from main town and ameneties
My wife and I stayed here for one night in mid-September 2006.
The hotel itself is easy enough to find, just off the junction of the I 690, junction with the John Glenn Boulevard. The location of the hotel is marked with large billboards on the I690, and is clearly marked as you approach the premises themselves.
The appearance of the hotel is a little dated, and it looks a bit 'frayed around the edges'. It is need of a good spruce up. There is ... ...much of a problem, as long as you can get the girl behind the desk to stop taking personal phone calls and text messages at the same time!. Our allocated room was altered during check-in, however as the receptionist's mind was else where , we were directed to tghe original room in a different part of the hotel. This was frustrating after a lomg drive, but she apologised for the mis-informtaion.
The room we had was spacious and clean, but again a ...
