Life at the Grand Hyatt isnt always that Grand
Advantages: Excellent food, good facilities & comfortable beds Disadvantages: Unfriendly staff, Take forever to clear the room service away & Prices
...around to staying at the Grand Hyatt.
PRICE
We booked our holiday with Virgin which included the flights, transfers and hotel so I cannot give a complete accurate guide to price but I would say from looking at their website and the amount we paid its safe to say its about £130 a night for two on a weekend and about £90 a night on a weeknight for two. LOCATION
The Grand Hyatt is in an excellent location if you wish to explore the whole of New York ... ...drag.
Being next door to Grand Central Station had its perks for us to though because if was raining really bad you could get to anywere in the city even just a couple of blocks up you could get the tube for $2 which is amazing value for money. If it is raining it is great as you just come out of the station and you can run right into your hotel.
When staying at The Grand Hyatt you find the areas around very interesting to the sides you are surrounded ...

There are far better four star hotels
Advantages: Great location Disadvantages: Certainly not a four star hotel
...elegance and was sadly disappointed. The place looked tired, grubby and in need of a facelift. The bathroom looked like something out of a 1970's motel with peeling watersealing and melamine sink surround. The check-in staff were unattentive and seemed somewhat overworked running all over the place. The pushy bellhop gave me no choice but to take my bags and stood waiting until I gave him a tip and then walked off without thanks. It was extremely ... ...Henri Bendel, Bergdorf Goodman and the lovely toystore FAO Schwatrz are all within a 5 minute walk.
I did not use any of the hotels facilities so can not comment on these.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and find it unbelievable The Plaza is in the same class as this when they are clearly worlds apart. The location is great but that counts for little if the hotel is poor. ...

Simple, stylish, recommended
Advantages: Luxurious, comfortable hotel with excellent service Disadvantages: Some of the food was a bit of a let down
I stayed at the Soho Grand in the October of last year, for just one night, but it left such a wonderful impression on me and came up in conversation only moments ago, and hence I thought I'd review the place, if only to recommend it!
I must say before anything else, that I was not responsible for either booking, or paying for the room, as it was part of a business trip, and therefore I can't comment on things like ease of booking, nor, really, ... ...questioning the quality of the Soho Grand though; from start to finish, it was a marvellous, easy, friendly experience. I'd highly, highly recommend a stay here, again, it's not going to be the cheapest of places, but for comfort, luxury, security, and something a little different, as well as being located in a fantastic area, I'd say you'd be hard pushed to find much better!
Further details and pictures can be found at www.sohogrand.com with, I ...

Great Experience in Soho
Advantages: Price, friendly staff, free breakfast Disadvantages: Location for some people maybe
The price of this hotel via Expedia drew me to it but I am SO glad I booked. From the moment you're greeted by the efficient and friendly staff you feel like you've made the right choice. We were greeted daily by the staff and often returned "home" to be offered lemonade or freshly baked cookies. The rooms are modern, clean and with very good facilities. The location, depending on your point of view, was amazing. The surreounding streets are a little ... ...in Soho but it is literally just over the road. A quick walk takes you to the excellent Soho shopping and Tribeca restaurants and also the slightly grittier area of ChinaTown was also minutes away. Subways are close by so it's easy to get to anywhere in the city. Restaurants nearby are amazing... Bubby's, Nobu, Odeon, The Harrison to name a few. We spent 10 days here and the room was easily big enough and comfortable enough for that period of time. ...

Not worth the 4 stars rating
Advantages: Great location, better than a days inn..... Disadvantages: Not MUCH better than a days inn....... not very clean, so-so service.....
...spent 6 nights at the city club hotel of new york city this summer. I looked at pictures of the hotel and other reviews and I made my choice: Booked it in advance. Well, this was supposed to be a 4 stars hotel but it wasn't worth it. The room were nice and service people were always smiling, but you get that in a Days inn. You don't get more than that. We had loads of luggage and nobody helped us with them. they could barely hold the door opened ... ...Algonquin's personnel than from the city club's, even when I told them I was a customer of their next door competitors..... Location of the hotel: GREAT! You are right in the middle of midtown, where most of the great new york things are. Grand central, Times Square, 5th avenue, St-Patrick cathedral, empire state building, chrysler building, Rockefeller center, all within 5 to 20 minutes to reach on foot. Easy access to subway and loads of restaurants ...
