...give the impression that the West Side Inn was a good place to stay if (and only if) the only thing you were looking for was a safe place to sleep. Disadvantages: The bedrooms are small and there is no hotel bar.

...the Big Apple at the Marcel Hotel for £450 was a steal and although I'm not usually one to book more than a week in advance, I knew we had to act fast. I wasn't wrong, the price had gone up within days and as it turned out our trip was every bit as good as we'd hoped. On arrival the staff were exceptionally helpful, offering advice with what to do for my stay and carrying my bags to my room (as someone who had been staying in hostels for the past 3 months this was rather a surprise!). Great value hotel right in the heart of Manhattan,at 147 West 43rd St, New York. Just off Times Square but more a quiet oasis than bustling metropolis. Extremely well run. Totally themed out in Morroccan style (mosiac tiling and palms throughout) its actually pretty authentic. Owner and staff are all North African or at least second generation.
