Bentley Hotel - New York New York!!!! Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!! ...Anyway we stayed at The Bentley Hotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there. ABOUT THE HOTEL The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice. It has 197 rooms in total, which range in quality depending on which sort you book. We had a regular ... ...wet and warm! The Bentley provides quite a few services for it’s guests, which I will tell you about, but we never used any of these so I cannot comment on their usefulness or how good they were. Well located radisson at a good price Advantages: well located polite service Disadvantages: overpriced food ...week for 5 days, The Radisson Lexington. BOOKING I booked our stay through hotels.co.uk and was paid upfront which sometimes can make it more difficult on arrival, but no problems here. We got the 5 days for a rate of 490 pounds over the easter break which we felt was really good. We had previously held a room on the website and waited for a cheaper rate to appear on the other sites as they are always cheaper. CENTRAL LOCATION The hotel is exceptionally ... ...a nice affluent neighborhood which is around the corner from the Waldorf Astoria on Park Ave and the Palace. A short block walk or two brings you to the Rockerfeller Centre home to NBC and radio city music hall. Quite amazing how close it all is. We easily walked to Timesquare most days as well, and it was about a 5 dollar cab ride in light traffic. We had a view of the Chrysler building from our hotel and enjoyed the views of the city. Would Definately Stay Again Advantages: Superb location and newly decorated rooms Disadvantages: A little expensive ...for their breakfasts, and the Doubletree Metropolitan was no exception, however armed with my free breakfast token, I indulged every morning. The food was freshly prepared and there was a wide selection to choose from. Everything from a traditional cooked breakfast to cereals, fruit salads, fresh fruit plus lots more. The food was very nice - but still wouldn't have paid their price for it. The service that the staff in the hotel provided was (with ... ...too much hassle and I didn't feel like I was asking the earth if I needed something. The concierge were brillirant and booked me a helicopter flight with Liberty Helicopters and the porters were always ready to help with luggage storage and they always had a cab ready if you needed it. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again and would definitely recommend it to anyone - businesses or pleasure travellers. Comfortable business class hotel in great location Advantages: Great mid-town location. Newly renovated Disadvantages: Large. Service is spotty. ...It's main competition is the Sheraton a block away on 7th Ave. The Hilton is a huge hotel (over 1000 rooms with 44 floors) and is a busy during convention season. We visited New York in October and stayed at the Hilton for 2 nights with our children and what follows below is a recap of our experience. Rates: We used Hotwire and managed to get a great $135/night rate. The standard weekday rates range from $250-$350. (Hint: Hotwire has it as a 4 star ... ...Park hotels or even the Sheraton by Times Square. The rooms looking down 6th Avenue have the better views of neon lights so you'll have to ask for it. Refurb work on hotel disappointing Advantages: Breakfast, free internet, location Disadvantages: refurb work, not very good staff Stayed in June 2008, I was told there would be minor refurbishment work taking place between the hours of 9 and 5. I was ok with this as I would be out exploring the city at these times. We were also told that our floor would not be worked on whilst we were there. Our floor had no wall paperor carpets and the smell of paint was awful, there was also a numebr of workmen starting as early as 7.30 and I saw some on an evening too. Apart from this I ... ...downstairs was a great bonus and the location was great, situated between the empire state building and maceys.
