Classy Millennium UN Plaza!
Advantages: Fantastic hotel all round! Disadvantages: Reception were slightly under staffed
I booked this hotel through a well known website and I decided to increase my budget compared to hotels I'd stayed in earlier in the week.
I still only paid approximately £100 per night and this proved well worth it.
The conceirage greeted up and made us feel very welcome.
At the check in desk the staff weren't the most helpful, but I think this was mainly due to a large amount of people checking in at the same time.
The lobby area of the hotel ... ...escorted to our room by a very kind member of staff. The room was very nice, a lovely view over New York and over the river. Bathroom was very nice and the bed was really big. The room was extremely clean.
We didnt get to try out the restaurant downstairs as it was a little bit too expensive for us. So we ordered in a chinese from a local take away. The hotel were fine with this and even provided us with cutlery when we phoned reception.
The destination ...

Dreamy
Advantages: Location, comfort and staff Disadvantages: slow lift - hardly a trip spoiler
Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for New Year, we'd checked it out on their website and on trip advisor. We were not disappointed, beautiful reception area and helpful receptionists. When we got into the room, we were amazed - it looked just like the website. We knew we weren't going to be spending much time in the room, but we had a great night sleep every night, no noise from the street at all. The hotel is close to everything you want in the ... ...mins from times square and about 5 mins from central park and the subway station is right outside the hotel.
I can't recommend this place more highly, i absolutely loved it and the bar on the top floor has amazing views over times square.
Although when we went it was slightly more expensive than normal, i still felt that we got a great deal.
It depends what you're looking for in a hotel and how much you are prepared to pay. This is a reasonably ...

Sophisticated Sofitel!
Advantages: Great rooms, staff and location Disadvantages: Not the cheapest hotel!
About the hotel:
The Sofitel Hotel is operated by the Accor Hotels and is located on 45 West 44TH Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, right in the heart of Midtown, and is the perfect location to explore Manhattan in easy walking distance of Times Square, Grand Central, Fifth Avenue shops, Macy's, Bloomingdales, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, and most of the major attractions! The hotel is only about three years old and is immaculate inside, ... ...at the entrance to the hotel. The check-in staff are efficient, very polite and courteous, and extremely helpful. The most common phrase to be heard as you wander through the lobby is often 'Bonjour' or 'Bonsoir' a nice touch!
The rooms:
The hotel rooms are quite spacious (not as large as some U.S. cities, but this is New York!) and come with either one king or two double beds. Furnished in light, modern colours and with contemporary art on the ...

Great Experience in Soho
Advantages: Price, friendly staff, free breakfast Disadvantages: Location for some people maybe
The price of this hotel via Expedia drew me to it but I am SO glad I booked. From the moment you're greeted by the efficient and friendly staff you feel like you've made the right choice. We were greeted daily by the staff and often returned "home" to be offered lemonade or freshly baked cookies. The rooms are modern, clean and with very good facilities. The location, depending on your point of view, was amazing. The surreounding streets are a little ... ...in Soho but it is literally just over the road. A quick walk takes you to the excellent Soho shopping and Tribeca restaurants and also the slightly grittier area of ChinaTown was also minutes away. Subways are close by so it's easy to get to anywhere in the city. Restaurants nearby are amazing... Bubby's, Nobu, Odeon, The Harrison to name a few. We spent 10 days here and the room was easily big enough and comfortable enough for that period of time. ...

Not worth the 4 stars rating
Advantages: Great location, better than a days inn..... Disadvantages: Not MUCH better than a days inn....... not very clean, so-so service.....
...spent 6 nights at the city club hotel of new york city this summer. I looked at pictures of the hotel and other reviews and I made my choice: Booked it in advance. Well, this was supposed to be a 4 stars hotel but it wasn't worth it. The room were nice and service people were always smiling, but you get that in a Days inn. You don't get more than that. We had loads of luggage and nobody helped us with them. they could barely hold the door opened ... ...Algonquin's personnel than from the city club's, even when I told them I was a customer of their next door competitors..... Location of the hotel: GREAT! You are right in the middle of midtown, where most of the great new york things are. Grand central, Times Square, 5th avenue, St-Patrick cathedral, empire state building, chrysler building, Rockefeller center, all within 5 to 20 minutes to reach on foot. Easy access to subway and loads of restaurants ...
