Advantages: Well positioned, close to a lot of attractions Disadvantages: Dull, no views, pricey ...wall and metal chimney and the concierge often looked like he could not be bothered. The Best Soul Food Is At Amy Ruth's Advantages: Incredible food, really lovely waiting staff, spacious (despite the pics) and comfortable. Disadvantages: Other than it being a bit far from the hotel we were staying at, nothing. ...have worried at all as Amy Ruth's turned out to be one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. Amy Ruth's is located on 113 W 116th St (New York 10026 in case you need to sat-nav it) and is visible and in a large open area - so if you're looking out for it you can't really miss it. There are a few popular and competing restaurants in NYC - Spoonbread's (which we later walked past and were glad we'd gone to Amy's) and Sylvia's pop up quite a bit online but after reading pros and cons until I was absolutely starving, I decided Amy Ruth's sounded better. TGI Fridays - New York, Times Square Advantages: Great food, huge portions, value for money Disadvantages: a bit busy at lunchtime I visited New York in April this year and had always wanted to go to TGI Fridays just to try it out and see if there was any difference to the ones I had been to in Scotland and wasnt disappointed. I found the food excellent value for money considering the portion sizes you get which are huge and the staff were friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough. Try the New York Cheescake which is fantastic. Hard Rock Cafe NYC Advantages: The shop, music and drinks Disadvantages: Food, lighting, heat and price I have been to other HRC in various places around the world. On a recent trip to NYC I decided to take a visit to the HRC. HRC is situated on 57th Street, not far from Broadway. It's in a nice part of town, not far from Carnegie Hall, Central Park, Broadway and the shops - ideal for a trip. It was a Wednesday afternoon in May 2005 and the weather was not great. We found the HRC easily and went inside. Initial thoughts and impressions were pretty ... ...world. The lighting was low, the music was rock, the tables and floor were wooden and the waiters / waitresses had the typical black HRC logo uniform on. There were the usual guitars, discs, pictures and HRC bits on the walls creating an initial and general good ambiance. We were allocated a table for 2 almost immediately. There was plenty of room but the table we were assigned was small (even for 2) and wabbled.
