The Best Soul Food Is At Amy Ruth's
Advantages: Incredible food, really lovely waiting staff, spacious (despite the pics) and comfortable.
Disadvantages: Other than it being a bit far from the hotel we were staying at, nothing.

There are a few popular and competing restaurants in NYC - Spoonbread's (which we later walked past and were glad we'd gone to Amy's) and Sylvia's pop up quite a bit online but after reading pros and cons until I was absolutely starving, I decided Amy Ruth's sounded better. Possibly the best burger in new york!
Advantages: fab burgers - cheap and yummy
Disadvantages: none
For possibly the best burger in New York head to one of the best kept secrets - the Burger Joint in the Parker Meridian Hotel. The Burger Joint is an address for those in the know and it is a well hidden room in the lobby of this hotel concealed behind a black curtain. you almost feel you need a password to enter, but when you disappear behind the curtain its another world. Good value choice for Times Square dining
Advantages: Great value food, lots of choice, just of Times Square
Disadvantages: Very Busy (but I see that as a good sign too!)
Carmine's is an Italian restaurant located at 200W, 44th St, just off Times Square. It is well-renowned for its HUGE portions of food. It states on the menu that one dish will easily serve 2 people. We found it was plenty for 3 which made it excellent value for money! Dishes start from around $23.
Its location makes it a great choice for theatre-goers heading to nearby Broadway shows as well as people out for the evening to experience the lights ...
...busy place and it is well worth booking a table in advance, especially if you are going to the theatre for a evening show. Book with plenty of time to spare as you will not want to rush through these massive meals! If you can wait until after the show, even better! It is open to late (we were still there at 11:30pm and it was pretty busy still!)
We found Carmine's through an article in a tourist magazine at our hotel and turned up at 8pm one evening ...

TGI Fridays - New York, Times Square
Advantages: Great food, huge portions, value for money
Disadvantages: a bit busy at lunchtime
I visited New York in April this year and had always wanted to go to TGI Fridays just to try it out and see if there was any difference to the ones I had been to in Scotland and wasnt disappointed. I found the food excellent value for money considering the portion sizes you get which are huge and the staff were friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough. Advantages: Delicious, authentic Italian food at reasonable prices
Disadvantages: Pizzas often arrive before starters are finished

Otto's interior calls to mind an Italian train station. Instead of being given a number to tell you when your table is ready, you are given a ticket with the name of an Italian city printed on it.
