Bay of Islands The Bay of Islands are so beautiful it was defiantly one of my favourite places in New Zealand, a lot of people don't before going up past Auckland as they are so busy to get to the South Island but I think they have sadly missed out. It has everything you could need and is also only a stones throw away from the beach! Perfect!! Powderhorn Chateau- five star hotel in Tongariro National Park,NZ

Advantages: Luxury, friendly atmosphere
Disadvantages: Middle of nowhere if you aren't skiing or hiking

Hokiana Heavan!!!

Advantages: Great family run hostel with an 'At Home' feel
Disadvantages: Quite small

Not the best but not the worst

Advantages: Great view on roof, cheap
Disadvantages: no free lockers and not that friendly

Albert Park Backpackers in Auckland is a very cheap place to stay, the location is great but it was not the friendliest hostel I have stayed in. I flew in from LA which is a 12 hour flight and was pretty tired as I am sure you can imagine, I pleased that the directions I had from the hostel where easy to follow, I just had to jump on a shuttle bus, this was easy to find and cost $15. Excellent choice of accommodation
