Up there with Ibiza

Advantages: The nightlife, women the women and the nightlife
Disadvantages: Why is it so far away

...from a Stag Do in Newcastle at the weekend. We had an awesome time and it was in no small part to what this city has to offer. We stayed at a hotel in the Quayside. I would recommend this rather than the city centre. The centre is fine but Quayside is far more picturesque. We stayed literally yards for the Tyne Bridge which is in the picture. Pure class. There are loads of bars and we were fortunate enough to have a guided tour on the Friday. My ...
...pot to wee in. In Newcastle it is full of genuine people out for a laugh. I felt totally safe in the place. When was the last time you heared anything serious in the news about Newcastle? To give you an idea of what the people are like we got the Stag dressed in a borat costume. You know his famous Mankini. We took him out in it during the day. Now sometimes Jo public my have seen this as being a bit over the top. Drunken yobs intruding on other ...

Discover the Force of Nature

Advantages: Beautiful places to visit
Disadvantages: None

High Force and also Low Force Waterfalls are places I have visited many times over the years. Situated in Middleton-in-Teesdale, not far from both Raby or Barnard Castle, the waterfalls are a great place to visit for a day out, or as part of a drive through the stunning countryside in the area. High Force is without a doubt one of the most impressive waterfalls in England. The River Tees has been plunging into this gorge for thousands of years, but ...
...years! You will find High Force located along the B6277, 4 miles from Middleton-in -Teesdale. It is well signposted, just follow the brown tourist signs. You will come to a car park where you will be charged £2.00 to park your car. You then take the woodland walk, which will take you to the waterfall. Admissions prices to the waterfall are £1.50 per adult, with children under 16 admitted free. The waterfall is open all year round, with an honesty ...

It's minus 15. Lets go out wearing a t-shirt!

Advantages: Loads to see and do in Newcastle and surrounding region
Disadvantages: Very busy, especially at weekends

I have lived in Newcastle all my life. I went to College and University in Newcastle and have sampled Newcastle's nightlife for as long as I can remember. Without wanting to sound biased, it really is a city that has something for everyone. The city Built on the banks of the River Tyne Newcastle is a relatively small city with a population of about 250,000 (from the last census). Also generally included with the Newcastle area are parts ...
...Newcastle is very compact with pretty much everything to see and do within the city can be done by walking. For attractions further out of the city centre, Newcastle is covered by an extensive bus network and also a light rail network (the Metro), which covers the areas towards the coast and also to Sunderland (although I wouldn't recommend anyone went there). Newcastle also has the benefit of being very close the coast with the beaches of Tynemouth ...

So NOT Easy

Advantages: Gets you there
Disadvantages: WAY expensive

...consumer an easy way of getting about the North. Or so, that’s the principle. The reality however, is much different. Firstly, it’s too expensive. They’ve just hiked up the child fare an incredible 100% making the 25p, and remotely reasonable fare becoming a greedy 50p. A bit steep for one train journey. Now, I wouldn’t object if the train journey was comfortable, but it isn’t. More than not, you’ll find yourself with someone, or rather, some people ...
...will do if you fancy getting somewhere quick…but by no means is it a nice place to be. My advice, take the bus or take something to listen to, so you don’t have to listen to others. Or the annoying ‘Stand Clear Of The Doors Please’ message…that you’ll hear roughly 12 times in a decent journey. Sigh. ...

Geordie Wonderland

Advantages: Compact city with plenty to see and do
Disadvantages: Binge drinking culture

I currently live in Newcastle and can assure anyone wishing to visit that it's a great place with plenty to see and do - all within walking distance! Having moved up here from Liverpool many years ago to study I found myself forever comparing these two great cities - and there are a lot of comparisons. Yes the Tyne isn't quite the Mersey but both are a source of pride and passion for the locals. On the Quayside you will find plenty of bars and restaurants, ...
...is great Architecture everywhere in Newcastle form the ancient Castle Keep to the imposing Victorian central train station, providing a stark offset to the very modern refurbishment of St James Park (55,000 seats). If your driving in by car over one of the many bridges this is a real landmark perched atop of a hill it's an imposing site indeed. Other things to do in the centre of town include a visit to Laing art gallery, Discovery museum, Sage ...
