The Mansion Advantages: The food Disadvantages: Not for chldren I travel a lot, and after staying in this hotel, I have to say that it is probably one of the most pleasurable experiences I have ever had. Once you are in this hotel, you are made extremely welcome by both the staff and other fellow guests. Could do better in central Newcastle Advantages: Location is prime Disadvantages: facilities, food, better value found elsewhere I stayed at this hotel in April 2007 having found it on LateRooms.com and me and my girlfriend paid a total of £89 for one nights stay in a standard double room. We arrived mid afternoon and we glad of the location - the building seems part of the station! The interior was impressive with clean carpets and a grand looking chandalier (probably not real). The check in staff were friendly and helpful. I think the best compliment you can give about ... ...So we were checked in quickly and off we went to our rooms. The corridors I have to say did not impress me and at times I could definitely tell that this place was built in the 1800's. By the time we reached the room though it was all ok. Room was standard fare, TV, Phone, Desk & chair, tea/coffee facilities and a fridge. I wasn't overwhelmed by the quality or cleanliness of the room but there was certainly no cause for complaint. Getting fit the Village Way Advantages: Nice hotel (from what I have seen), excellent leisure facilities Disadvantages: Standards have slipped slightly recently Before you start reading this review I should make it clear that this review is predominately about the leisure club (of which I am a member). Living 10 minutes away from the hotel as I do I have never really felt the urge to stay there! I will try as far as possible though to give my thoughts on the bits of the hotel I have seen. Hotel location The hotel is situated in the Cobalt Business Park, which is just off the A19 meaning it ... ...from the south (leaving the A1 before the Tyne tunnel) or from the A1 coming from the North, leaving at the Cramlington turn off. The location of the hotel, in a business park means that a lot of the guests during the week are people travelling on business to the various companies in Cobalt and the surrounding areas. Cop a load of this! Advantages: Right on the quayside, not too far from town, views Disadvantages: Quite expensive ...Then she rang the Copthorne Hotel, who told her that yes, they could get three to a room (a twin room with a camp bed), and they wouldn't need to take a deposit unless we wanted 4 or more rooms. They quoted her a price of £135 per room per night, so for 3 to a room, £45 each ain't that bad. It didn't include breakfast, but with it being right on the Quayside, yards from the Sunday "market," it wouldn't be hard to find a van selling sausage butties. ... ...washout. PPP called the Copthorne again to cancel the provisional booking of 3 rooms that we'd made, and request a twin room for me and her.
