Local eatery
Advantages: Good value food Disadvantages: Only if it's close
The Bridle Path
Being close to our house, this is a pub we go to quite frequently either for a drink, or as in a couple of weeks ago, Sunday lunch.
The pub is situated in Whickham which is about 5 miles from Newcastle on the Gateshead side of the river and having been around for about 150 years, has a long tradition as a public house.
THE PUB...
Directly outside the pub are a few parking spaces, but if you can’t get parked in one of these spaces, ... ...to the pub is via one of two doors either at the front or the side, and once inside, it is on two levels so for those wanting wheel chair access the front door is best. The centre of the pub is dominated by a large bar which is circular so wherever you are standing you don’t have far to go for a drink. This is necessary because it does get very busy especially on weekend nights including Sundays. The bar is well stocked and there are plenty of drinks ...

Nice Food, Nice place
Advantages: Good food, good service Disadvantages: Noisy, very busy
...would book a table at Marco Polo in Newcastle for Saturday night.
Where is it?
Marco Polo is an Italian restaurant located on Dean Street in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is near to the metro station and taxi's can be found outside. According to their website it's the place to be in Newcastle. My auntie and uncle have been before but they said it has been refurbished since they were last there. It looks really nice and it's clean. The Menu
... ...a speaker too. Marco Polo doesn't have the same kind of atmosphere as the little traditional Italian restaurants nor does it have the same sort of character - nothing in the restaurant looked particularly Italian, but it was still a nice place to eat. Overall
Although, I enjoyed my night out and the food was good, I'm in no hurry to go back as it was noisy and quite expensive (especially compared to traditional Italian restaurants). However, ...

Tapas and a great atmosphere
Advantages: Good atmoshere and food Disadvantages: Not the most intimate of places
El Torrero
Situated on a pedestrian only road on the way downwards towards Newcastle's quayside, this restaurant is a handy place to eat for anyone wanting to go on to sample the delights(??) of Newcastle's night life.
THE RESTAURANT
The restaurant is actually quite easy to miss, since there are no bright lights heralding its existence, and since the road it's situated on is winding and cobbled, I think it's one of those places you would either ... ...the restaurant, there is a pleasant business about the place, but nothing seems hurried. It's usual to be taken to the long bar area at the very back of the restaurant, and there we sit perusing the menu, whilst having a drink.
The restaurant is set out over one floor, but is divided into smaller areas with arches and half walls; this makes it feel less cavernous, and a bit more intimate. Tables are all wooden with a scrubbed look, which is in perfect ...

Buffet the Hunger Slayer!
Advantages: Good value, extensive selection of food available Disadvantages: Busy, crowded, somewhat impersonal service
...an 'all you can eat' buffet so that she doesn't need to eat for the rest of her holiday! Buffet Island was the place eventually chosen which is a half hour journey from our home, but well worth the short trip. It is advertised as being one of the largest Chinese buffet restaurants in Staffordshire which surprised me as I wouldn't imagine there would anywhere bigger in the county! The restaurant was huge, with every inch of space carefully planned ... ...restaurant is entirely self-service hot buffet with no option to order from a menu at all. The food counters were well laid-out to ensure that there should be no queuing or bottle-necks forming and, probably because of the sheer number of customers, food was constantly being replenished and everything seemed hot and freshly prepared. There was an area where certain items seemed to be freshly cooked (to individual tastes) which was set aside slightly ...

Superb on all Accounts
Advantages: great food, great service Disadvantages: -
...has got to be the Blue Chilli, which is a relatively newish establishment in the heart of Newcastle under Lyme. I have been there around 5 times now over the past 6 months and their food and service never fails to disappoint me. My first visit, I was quite intrigued at what to expect. I went with quite a few colleagues from work and we had had the menu faxed over to us. Looking at the menu, I honestly didn't think I would like anything, however after ... ...try it yourself.
The Blue Chilli itself is a rather large restaurant, with big glas windows overlooking the town. I think originally it may have been some other form of business. The building itself has character, it could have been a house before, not sure but the features inside it lead you to believe that and thats how I associate it. When you walk into the Blue Chilli, you have what can only be described as a hallway, with a spiral staircase ...
