Newcastlemy home City is becoming more and more popular with Hen and Stag parties.....after being stopped countless of times by tourists asking for best places to go etc......i thought id write a general review of the main nightlife to be found in Newcaslte.
Typically the town is split into 3 or 4 main areas to go drinking....although they are all within walking distance of each other.
The "infamous" Bigg Market - best way to describe would be to say imagine your typical holiday destination main drag....well thats it but a bit colder. - Mainly full of young'uns (aged 16 - 23) and slightly "less aware" older folk. Can be a bit rough but also a great party atmosphere.
The quayside - Going back maybe 5 years this was the place to be seen with bars such as Bar 38, the Quilted Camel, Chase and Julies all a regular haunt for members of the local football teams. These days all that sort of action (the trendy bars has moved up to the Central Station area).
Quayside is still a good night out and is particularly popular with hen and stag do's. just over the water is the famous Buffalo Joes with the dancin cowgirls (and cowboys) on the bar.
Haymarket Area - Greayt place to go during the day for some food and a few drinks.....a lot of "old men" style bars where you will meet some proper characters young & old. This are is particularly popular with the student population of Newcastle.
The Gate Complex - Fantastic range of bars and restaurants, and now even boasts a cinema and Casino. Definately recomended for a good night with The Spice Cube retaurant service Indian cuisine being one of my favourites in town.
Central Station Area - The place to be seen in Newcastle, with Bars such as Destination, Tokyo, appartment and Perdu providing a chilled out / upmarket atmosphere. A definate unique experience and popular with the "young & trendy" population of newcastle.
So all in all if its a jeans and trainers night followed by a kebab after dancin to cheesy music then it has to be the Bigg Market.
For all the trendy folk out there, the Central Station belt is the place to hit for Ibiza-esque atmosphere and music.
If ya plannin on going clubbing, main clubs in Newcastle are Baja beach club - Cheesey pop Sea - House / RnB Destination - Proper Clubbers club
