Ongiara - Niagara. Thunder of Waters.

Advantages: Fun holiday resort with exceptional Waterfalls
Disadvantages: Can get extremely busy in summer months

...was my three-day visit to Niagara Falls more precisely the Niagara Region. Both my friends knew the region well considering both had relatives in the area and had visited the Falls many, many times before, so who better to show me the splendours of the resort. ...year. The 35 mile long Niagara River forms a natural border between the United States and Canada with the resorts spanning the border. There are actually two Niagara Falls cities each separated by the wide gorge but reachable via numerous bridges along the river. At Niagara it is the Rainbow Bridge.

Disadvantages: A bit downmarket in places

Niagara has long been on my 'to do' list, so I was happy for my departure from Mexico to coincide with a stop-over in Toronto and, thus, a trip to the falls. I was lucky to be taken there by a friend I made on my Christmas tour of Costa Rica. As Toronto residents for about 6 years, she and her mother had been there before, but not for some time, and were happy to return. I had originally planned to take a one-day guided tour from Toronto, which would ...
...round the tower and onto Niagara Parkway where I could finally hear, if still not see, the falls. We passed the Casino, and then stumbled upon the 'Falls and Firkin' which I just had to take a picture of - those firkins get everywhere! There is a walkway that takes you to the incline railway for access to the lower level, and though it takes barely a minute (57 seconds, in fact), I was very happy to go on this since I'm a sucker for any kind of funicular ...

Advantages: A real “must see”, not too expensive
Disadvantages: Surrounding area

...looking forward to tomorrow’s destination, Niagara Falls. Ever the organised one, I had already booked our accommodation at the “Sheraton on the Falls” and were planning on making the hour and half’s drive there immediately after dinner. Because I was sans printer when I made the booking, I’d only scribbled down a few directions on a piece of paper (well how hard could it be, find the falls, the hotel’s next to it?). At about 10:00pm we were on ...
...me my first view of Niagara Falls. It was fully lit with multicoloured lights and you could just about hear the noise of the water cascading down above the din of the music. It looked a little smaller than I imagined, but with good reason. The falls I was looking at were the “American Falls”; the more famous “Canadian Horseshoe Falls” were up the road a little way (and out of my view). I didn’t realise there were two of them! If you could mentally ...

A Tale of Two Niagaras

...to take a trip to Niagara Falls. The Falls are about 85 miles outside Toronto. You can hire a car and drive there easily from the city or if you prefer there are numerous organised tours that you can take. There’s also quite a good bus service or you can take the train from Union Street station in downtown Toronto. I’m a bit of an old romantic when it comes to train travel abroad - I have visions of sitting in old-world elegance watching the world ...
...best). We arrived at Niagara Falls at around 11.30 and first impressions were not good. The railway station is some way from the Falls themselves. Lots of people were queuing for taxis but, we reasoned, it surely wouldn’t take long to walk. With hindsight it was a bit like arriving at London Euston, turning left out of the station and expecting to see Piccadilly Circus in front of you. My guidebook said that you would hear the Falls long before ...

A Winter Wonder

Advantages: A fun filled day that packs loads in
Disadvantages: Shabby customer service from the helicopter company

Visiting Niagara Falls for the first time evokes dreams that have been instilled upon the conscience. Whether you have been told tales or seen shots in Hollywood movies, it is a tourist attraction that everybody has some knowledge of. Getting there - I started off in Toronto and joined a bus running day trips to Niagara. There is a different viewpoint if you travel from America where day trips are available from New York. However, I had been led ...
...times. The road to Niagara - JoJo's coach, which takes a maximum of 14 passengers, provided insightful information on the road down. Everybody on the tour was asked to provide a sound bite about themselves to help get to know each other better. The driver was also respectful of those wanting quiet time. I enjoyed hearing the stories of all the people who had tried to come up with their own unique way of taking a trip through the falls. From sitting ...

...and Canada runs through the Niagara river, and it is possible to walk (or drive) across the border on the Rainbow Bridge (something of a Rainbow theme.. I know!). Most of the tourist amenities are on the Canadian side, and the biggest of the three falls (the Horseshoe Falls) are on the Canadian Falls. If you cross over, there is a small park (with black squirrels!), by the American Falls, and actually, I took much better photos from this side. If ...
...also give you a special Niagara Falls stamp in your passport, but only if you ask for it specifically!). There are three falls. The Horseshoe Falls, which are the main ones, and the largest, then the American Falls, which are a bit rockier, and in some ways more rugged and prettier, in my opinion, and then the Bridal Veil Falls, which are also on the American side and are much smaller. Niagara Falls is famous for being a honeymooners resort and ...

Memorable experience in United States

Advantages: Great fun and experience
Disadvantages: None

a room attendant in the hotel. I must admit that it was a great experience which I will never forget. I have worked for almost two months and traveled around United States for one month. Honestly, the working period was very suffering and painful. However the fun part is I got the chance to meet a lot of people from different culture and background. It felt totally different when talking to other people who is different from you. I have learnt and seen a lot indeed which is impossible to see and learn from school or even university. I think this is what we call "society university". The traveling part was the best. The route of my travel (with some friends who went to United States together) was: Niagara Falls - Toronto (Canada) - Washington D.C. - Florida (Walt Disney World and Universal Studios) - Grand Canyon - Los Angelos - San ...

Canada wonderland

Advantages: fun for all the family
Disadvantages: cost a bit

I am not from Canada but about 3 years ago i went for a holiday in Canada and i really enjoyed myself. i visited a lot of interesting places like Niagara falls, Clifton hill, the zoo, science center, marine land, wonderland etc. but i have to admit that from all these places the most place that attracted me was Canada wonderland and i really had fun that i went 3 times there. There are a lot of different rides; rides for the small ones, roller coasters, water rides, water slides, wave pool, lazy river etc. The most rides i liked were top gun, dragon fly and the beast. i think that all those people who are interested to go for a holiday in Canada they should visit Canada wonderland , it will be loved by all the family. ...

Globespan

Advantages: Excellent value for money!
Disadvantages: Not much legroom, not for the fussy!

Globespan I?ve just got back from a holiday in Canada which my friend and I had booked through Globespan. Our tour included Niagara Falls, Toronto, Montreal and Quebec. We paid £735 each, which included the following: *return flights to Toronto Hamilton from Glasgow *ten nights accommodation in 3 or 4 star hotels *a sightseeing tour in Quebec (including transport to Quebec from Montreal) *bus transfers between the airport and hotels *five hour return train journey between Toronto and Montreal That?s a real bargain in my book! Booking We found out about Globespan holidays through the Scotsman newspaper. I filled out a request for the brochure of their Canadian holidays online and the brochure promptly arrived a couple of days later. They offer a great choice of holidays in Canada including city breaks, Toronto ...
