I was fortunate enough to visit Niagara Falls twice during my Canadian holiday. Niagara has got to be the highlight of the trip. The Falls are spectacular - a must see for anyone travelling to southern Ontario.
Visitors can stand beside the Falls at the top for free. You get close enough that it feels as though you could reach out and touch the water. We also went on the “Maid of the Mist” boat ride, from a few minutes downriver. The boat travels right up to the foot of the falls, until it is totally enveloped in the huge mist cloud the falls create. It was an awesome experience – well worth the money.
You can also travel down a tunnel and come out behind the falls. This is also an amazing way to see the falls – those who brave the queues are well rewarded.
The highlight of our trip was the helicopter ride over the falls. Even though it cost £30 for only 9 minutes, it was a flight I will never forget. My advice – if you can afford the trip – don’t leave out the helicopter ride.
