The service and friendliness of the staff and managers alike is the best you could get. Students, 9 to 5 office staff in suits, general workers on their lunchbreak... any and all are welcomed and treated with the same level of courtesy. ****I'm at an advantage here since for a college project I have been reviewing pubs, and this is one of them. I have been reviewing establishments on the basis of Atmosphere, Barstaff and Doormen, Music, Prices, Toilets, and proximity to Clubs. Hopefully any bad ratings won't reflect on my finished college project lol!****
Atmosphere Many people have said that their first impression of the quaintly named Nice N Sleazys, is that it appears rather dingy. These researchers cry, "Not so!" (Well really the researchers said "Aye right ya fud". Well... really they said something with a lot more expletives.) The décor is quite retro, but the posters advertising upcoming gigs seems to give it a cool factor. Soft lighting (with bizarre 70s style shades) gives it a relaxed and comfortable feel, which allows even first time customers to feel right at home.
Barstaff and Doormen The service and friendliness of the staff and managers alike is the best you could get. Students, 9 to 5 office staff in suits, general workers on their lunchbreak... any and all are welcomed and treated with the same level of courtesy. Most of the doormen do fit the bouncer stereotype, but a researcher assures you that they're probably the friendliest you'll find in Glasgow. Extra mention must be given to the management, who most graciously allowed one researcher to film a band interview in there. Gratitude can only be expressed in repeated (and constant) custom.
Music 'Sleazys entertains with a wide range of music, as well as the numerous bands gracing the jukebox. Researchers have observed that the customer favourites are The Smiths, Joy Division, and The Ramones, amongst the many other musical offerings. And, as if that weren't enough, it doubles as a music venue, with regular gigs and weekly open mic nights (Mondays, in case you're wondering) downstairs, where there is a second bar.
Prices Since Glasgow City Council decided to scrap the Happy Hour (bastards), many of the offers Sleazys had were revoked (researchers are gobsmacked that there has been no uprising or revolution at this nanny state ruling). But have no fear, reasonable prices are still here! Even though one researcher said that the pints pulled at Sleazys were terrible, the blasphemy was silenced by a swift slap by his accompanying researcher. Vokda mixer- £1.85 Alcopop- average of £2.20 Pint- £2.20 average
Toilets Even the toilets haven't escaped the 70's decor. Orange, yes, orange. But it's a good orange. It works. No graffiti or jokes or limericks scrawled on the doors, which takes all the fun out of it says one researcher. Always clean, toilet roll is plentiful. No complaints.
Clubs Sleazys is situated, literally, right across the road from popular club The Garage. Practically every big (i.e. City Centre) club is a stone's throw away or within walking distance. The location as well is nearest the West End, as City Centre pubs go anyways.
Located in Sauchiehall Street, I honestly do love this pub, and for a time it was my local until moving and lack of funding stopped that. At nights it is incredibly busy and you have to fight to get to the bar, but that just goes to show you how popular it is.
I demand everybody go to it, right now!
*****(UPDATE)***** I think due to my lack of custom recently, Sleazys have had to up the prices of vodka mixer, which is now £2. They now operate an offer on a 4 pint jug of Miller or John Smith's for £7, all day from Sunday to Wednesday. And apparently there is now a 'Joke of the Day' on the blackboard. Q: What's E.T. short for? A: He's got no legs.
Advantages: Neat and cosy, friendly people Disadvantages: Can be a bit loud
Nice And Sleazy is situated on Sauchiehall Street just across from The Garage Nightclub.
Ahhh - Nice And Sleazy almost a memory from my not so distant past. This was my favourite bar when I was 18 and is still up there. Filled with people who "look like students" but are actually not. They are just people like myself who wish they were still students.
It used to be very dark and gothic, but for a while now it has went down the more 70's decor design ... ...your body as you enter this indie bar and makes you want to say "Hi everyone" as if anyone knows you.
This is probably the second best small venue (after King Tut's) for up and coming bands to play - and you will see bands of the future. Not so long ago you would have seen people like Belle and Sebastian, Oasis and Blur playing to a bunch of about 20 mates.
This bar is cosy, can be a bit loud at times, but I think that is just my age! ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Nice And Sleazy"
Advantages: Lots and Lots to do Disadvantages: Can get a bit busy at weekends and may meet the odd idiot
Glasgow, the best city in Scotland in my opinion, is situated on the West Coast of Central Scotland.
There is lots to do for anyone. Filled with Art Galleries, Theatres, Cinemas, Pubs, Clubs, Attractions and lots more.
It would be insane to mention everthing in Glasgow, but I can recommend some things.
For shopping, there are three major malls. Buchanan Galleries just has about everything you would need situated in the centre of town.
For pubbing, there are hundreds of pubs in the centre my favourites are Yang (Queen Street), Nice And Sleazy (Sauchiehall Street) and The Republice (Gordon Street).
For theatre, I like The Arches which is host to small scale productions, or there is The Pavillion Theatre for more popular theatre (The Steamie, Panto etc.) and of course the Citizens in the Gorbals which always has class ...
Advantages: handy for the Strathclyde and Caledonia students defecting from their unions! Disadvantages: a chain such as this could become generic and boring
're pretty much at George Square), a bus stop is right across the road, a taxi rank isn't too far away, and it's right beside both Queen Street Station and Buchanan Bus Station.
In the years I've been going to the Scream chains (even the years I shouldn't have been :P) I've never found fault with the service, staff, or any clientele. And although I am giving it 5 stars, that in no way suggests that The Ark is better or just as good as Nice N Sleazys!
