The film is told like a story and narrated by Christina, who spends half of the film translating what her mother says until Flor learns english for herself. As the film goes on the bond between John (Sandler) and Flor (Vega) grows as the problems between Deb and John increase.
The children involved also have an important role in the film as the film shows the relationship between Flor and Christina deteoriating as well as the relatonship between Deb and her daughter and Adam Sandler plays mr niceguy with the bad wife and personal stress.
Sandler is surprisingly good in this different role and the film is very well acted, maybe not so well produced, an example being a scene in a car where the backgroung was grey and obviously not real and the characters were gleaming in the sunlight, very noticable ...

When the Predator marked Alexa Woods (the only surviving human from the last film) with the symbol of a Predator warrior, thus signalling his respect for her, it was an incredible twist that astounded the audience! Wow? Predators not only possessed a code of ethics, but they also possessed feelings? who would have thought?! Totally amazing stuff - sheer genius on the part of director Paul W.S. Anderson and writers Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett - needless to say that they did not direct or write this latest sequel? what a shame.
The point is, my fascination with the Predators in this movie was mortally wounded by their 'Alien-type' behaviour - true, Predators aren't actually nice-guys, but their warrior-type-ethics were feasible and easily understood? it didn't make them any nicer or more likeable ...

for being MR NICEGUY! The intruder starts chopping off the directors wife's fingers with an axe. Everytime mr nice guy doesn't obey the intruders demands, his wife's fingers are chopped off one by one. Mr niceguy is made to confess, his loveaffair, making his wife shocked, but little did Mr Niceguy know she's been having an affair too - the intruder reveals all..
This makes you flinch, especially the thought of someone hacking your fingers off!! ouch! Besides, this film is extremely visual, the house endulges in decadence. The characters are great, especially the little humour snippets in the film, of the intruder trying to give a cue to the director of which film he appeared in. Especially light-hearted humour, against the seriousness of what is happening to his wife. This isn't really that gory, there is blood, but this film is smart. But I ...
