...cannot miss out on the Night safari. This provide to be very true. We decided to visit the zoo with an organised tour from the hotel we were staying at (Shangria-la). Which proved to be a bit pricey about 70 Singapore dollars and also add alot of hanging around in a coach.(Wouldn't do the tour again) later we discovered it would cost $20 (around £10) taxi there and about the same again to get into the Park. The park opens at 7ish, we didn't get there ... ...all the resedients are naturally night animal and they are out prowling and hunting , a very different experince. My children were thrilled by the whole experince. The tour stops half way around allowing you to get off and explore on foot and catch another tram.
Back at the beginning of the tour you have a choice of an animal show which is shown on a first come first served basis (missed this due to late arrival)or the many different walks. more
When we visited Singapore we were told that you cannot miss out on the Night safari. The park opens at 7ish, we didn't get there till after 9, but still had time for a guided tour and to see some of the displays. We didn't get a chance to walk around the park which was a shame, but I don't feel we missed out on too much.
The Tram ride and guided tour lasted for about 45 minutes and drove around the park so you could view the animals in relative comfort. The guide was very informative about all the animals, but had to keep reminding people not to use flash photography (people don't listien). The animals themseleves stole the show as you would hope. The enclosures were well built it really felt that there was nothing between you and the animals. Quite something as you stop by the lions. The one thing this zoo/safari has is awake animals all the resedients are naturally night animal and they are out prowling and hunting , a very different experince. My children were thrilled by the whole experince. The tour stops half way around allowing you to get off and explore on foot and catch another tram. Back at the beginning of the tour you have a choice of an animal show which is shown on a first come first served basis (missed this due to late arrival)or the many different walks. In the main area there is all the shops well one big souveniur shop ,one small kiosk, ice cream shop, bar, and cafe style eaterie also there are displays in this area where you can pet some of the animals and have your photo taken with them, again the staff are on hand to answer questions. We were lucky enough at this time to see a tribal fire dance this got very hot and frightened the children alittle untill it was over when they claimed it was brillant. The dancing group did about 1/2 hr display fire eating, using blow pipes and dancing with bamboo through this they manged to get some brave volunteers to join in. After this the park was readying itself to close about midnight and we took some very exhausted children back to the coach for the joureny back. We were told later that the Night safari is actually the Singapore zoo and can be visited during the day,but how true that is I am not sure.
Advantages: Fun, inexpensive, informative, different Disadvantages: a bit out of the way to get to
...you want to spend a night out of the bars, then the night safari is a good option.
Its different from anything else I have done before. You can pay to go to the safari and walk around or pay extra and go on a guided tour on a tram. I would definately recommend paying the extra. You are taken around by an informative guide and see the animals in a much different way to the usual safari park experience. The park isn't that big, but you can get off ... ...alot of animals hunt at night and are naturally awake and in action at this time. I'm not sure what time the park opens, but it shuts at midnight, so you want to get there by 11ish so you can have the full tour and time to get off the tram at every stop.
I also found the staff to be very helpful with all our questions and offered to take us around the park even after it had shut as we were late arriving. Like any other safari park there is a souviner ...

Advantages: reasonably priced, different and interesting!!! Disadvantages: None that i can thing of
...The admission prices for the night safari starts at S$10 for kids and around S$20 adults, which is a farely good price compared to the other attractions located in Singapore. I visited the night safari at around 8.00pm and it closes at midnight- plenty of time to explore and see the events planned. They provide a handy little map to help you make your way around the park, also, the staff were very helpful in guiding us. If you dont fancy walking ... ...about 45 minutes. The night safari is probably one of the best zoo's i have been too, it provides a good selection of trails, special events and food. Personally i think the safari is well worth visiting especially for familys, it is different to the others i have been to and is a chance to learn about the animals and their nocturnal activities. Obviously, there is a souvenir shop, where you will be able to buy little presents to remeber your trip ...

...my visit to Singapore. The night safari is a wonderful idea, and extremely clever in terms of layout and accessibility. You board a slow moving tram with a tour guide to keep you informed as you glide through the park with wild animals on either side of you. The animals are nicely lit by minimal lighting hiding in trees and bushes, and as its feeding time you get to see them in all their glory, and feel like you're actually with them in the wild. ...

Advantages: Cheap, fun, informative, good experience, different Disadvantages: none really
My wife and I spent only three days in Singapore last year to kick start a three week holiday in the region and we managed to squeeze in a trip to the NightSafari. It?s a great place and a unique experience not to be missed if you are on the tourist trail in the area.
In basic terms it?s a zoo. A good one though where the animals have quite a large area to live in compared to other zoo?s I?ve been to. But the difference is that you are meant to visit after dark to get the most out of the experience ? hence the name! I think from memory the NightSafari opens at around 7.30 pm
Getting there is a breeze by any form of transport. We travelled there by MRT (Singapore?s underground system) and taxi as we were staying in the heart of Singapore city. Cheap as can be and no fuss at all. The journey back to my hotel was travelled by taxi ...
Advantages: Unusual, interesting, cheap. Disadvantages: The animal shows. Inconsiderate humans using the flash on their cameras.
How many times have you gone to a zoo and found that most of the animals are asleep because they're nocturnal? If you've ever wondered what the animals get up to when it gets dark that head to Singapore's NightSafari.
Located next to Singapore's Zoological Gardens the NightSafari is set in 40 hectares of wilderness and it's fantastic. The safari has so many different species - lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, tigers, otters, wolves, bats. Pretty much everything except monkeys and polar bears. Tickets are roughly £6 for adults and £3.50 for children. For about £1.70 extra you can take a tram ride around the zoo which I highly recommend. It opens at 7:30 pm and closes at midnight every day. I went there on Christmas Day 2004 after spending the day at the the zoo.
I went in as soon as it opened and the queues weren ...
Advantages: Perfect for a unique cultural immersion and a wild food-attack. Excellent transport system means getting to anywhere is a breeze. Disadvantages: Hot (at least 30C everyday). Also, there is no natural scenery to speak of.
planning a second trip, make sure you check station names carefully.
Singapore also prides itself with the Zoological Gardens and the NightSafari. These places (adjacent to each other actually) are accessible by bus only (cannot really remember the service no.). Proceed to Ang Mo Kio MRT Station (presently labelled N9: see tip 5), ask for the bus interchange, and check on the services there. One of them must bring you to the zoo.
Tip 6: The NightSafari should not be missed.
Tip 7: Clarke Quay is where you enjoy night life, if you are into pubbing.
Sentosa is an offshore island down south of Singapore. Its theme parks (the most popular and enjoyable being Fantasy Island: water theme park) should occupy you for the entire day. Also check out the giant Merlion statue on the island! The Merlion is a half-lion, half-fish creature that ...
