We travelled on an Bales Worldwide escorted tour of Egypt and the first part of the trip was spent here at the Nile Hilton. We stayed 3 nights here. The twin room was large and spacious and a generous bathroom en - suite. There was a small balcony which overlooked the rear of the hotel and the famous Egyptian museum. The restaurants were also very clean, there were several to choose from and not too expensive. Breakfast was an 'all you can eat' buffet with a large choice of foods in the Café; we had our evening meals at the Italian restaurant which was really very good. The real plus point was it's proximity to the Egyptian Museum which is literary out of the rear of the hotel turn left and it's in front of you.
There are shopping bargains to be had if you are prepared to hunt them down and haggle. I hate shopping at home in the UK so that wasn't one of the things I wanted to do in Egypt. The gift shop at the Nile Hilton was a gem - all the staff spoke English, the main shopkeeper was friendly and chatty (in a nice, ordinary way) and the prices were very reasonable (they sell post cards and stamps and the postcards even arrived home long before we did). The guides etc tell you not to buy at the hotels too dear etc. Utter crap! The guides receive commission from the shops they take you to and unfortunately here live the really pushy salesmen and women - ever seen timeshare sellers in Spain, they aren't a patch on the Egyptians! At Giza we went to a Papyrus Institute (shop) to see it made and purchase some. The 'store detective' style shop assistants shadow you around the store and whatever the price on the wall is you are charged more at the counter. (The shop at the hotel charged less with the personalisation for free.)
The hotel room we stayed in were very clean and well presented. It had air conditioning, a fridge, TV, towels/toiletries and ample storage. There bars and lounges, even a casino in the Nile Hilton but with the early starts these unfortunately I didn't experience.
A really nice hotel.

Advantages: Close to the Egyptian Museum and other interesting places Disadvantages: Compared to the other hotels it was on the expensive side - but well worth it
