What a wonderful week we have had in the beautiful land of the Pharohs. After a long flight (this is another review) we arrived in to Luxorairport which if you had never been to this part of the world could have been a shock. The arrivals hall was chaotic with holiday makers looking lost and reps shouting for your attention.We didn't get our Visas in advance and this was not a problem for us as all we had to do was hand over an english ten pound note to our Longwood rep who organised this all for us. The advantage their was that he was egyptian so got speedy treatment pushing in front of holiday makers who as they were traveling with the larger tour operators had to do all of this themselves. Be aware that when queing for passport control men will take you to the front of the every one and leave you to push in and demand money for the sevice! Keep a hold of your bags as the bag boys will have them in no time what so ever. Arrived on our boat for the week the beautiful RA2 Such a grand entrance in the Tiffany style reception complete with smiling faces from the staff and crew. Cabin was of a good standard with patio doors meaning you could get loads of air and light. Food was good and you soon relax and start meeting new people. Our itinery was excellent as was pointed out to us that because they picked out sailing times carefully we missed having to queue everywhere we sailed i.e through the locks. The boat also had it own private moorings in a lot of the major ports we visited meaning the we wearn't squashed in like the other boats so we could enjoy the views wherever we went. Saw some amazing sights during our trip and will never forget this wonderful experience. Make sure you join in the fancy dress party. We bought out Egyptian robes on the boat. You do stand out like a sore thumb and a party pooper if you don't. Also took great delight in the fact that because we went with a small specialist tour operator we paid a lot less money than those with the more famous ones.
