We have just returned from an amazing holiday on the upper Nile. We booked through Cosmos and they used a Flash International boat called Magic 1. The boat was clean, tidy and realatively plush. The crew were friendly and always ready for a joke. The food was very good - not resturant standard but good honest food. The Egyptologists that came with us were nothing short of fantastic. It was an all inclusive trip and the local wine and beer was more than quaffable Cosmos were not brilliant at giving information up front - what would have been useful to know were: You can use any currency - Sterling, Dollars, Euros or Egyptian Pounds If you want Egyptian Pounds get them from the hole in the wall at the airpot in Egypt when you land. Don't take towels for the swimming pool they are provided. It's very hot in Aswan even in February and you will get burned if you lie in the sun - Luxor is not so bad. The balloon trip over the valley of the kings may not go over the valley if the wind is blowing the wrong way! Don't go on the sound and light show at Karnak as it is older than the pryamids. You will get hasselled by local traders and the guides in the temples / tombs - just don't get into a conversation with them. La Shoo-kran (English spelling) means 'no thank you' and if said with feeling will get rid of hasslers. Be prepared for early starts (5 o'clock wake ups are not unusual) Best time to go - November through March. If you want to avoid delly belly then don't eat too much and drink mega amounts of water.
Go to Abu Simbel if you get the chance. Have a good holiday!
"drink mega amounts of water" << I presume you mean bottled water and not the stuff out of the taps!? Lexy

welcome to ciao, sorry for the lower rating, but I thought a lot more detail is needed (also, it probably doesn't help that I have just returned from by the sounds of it the same cruise - luxor - aswan?) try adding more information about how long the cruise takes, how much it costs, any extra costs etc etc. if you want some help on structuring your review, drop me a message :) xxx

Welcome to Ciao. Good factual review with what sound like some sensible tips. I think Delhi Belly happens in India; the Egyptian equivalent is Gyppy Tummy. Duncan
