Formerly Manila International Airport and renamed to NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) in honor of the Philippine hero in modern times. Located at the southern part of Metro Manila, NAIA serves as the main artery of air travel in the country, that includes the adjacent Manila domestic airport. The hospitality and accommodating attitude of airport personnel never fail to amaze arriving tourists. Even newcomers with no contacts can easily get to their place of destination by seeking assistance from the concierge, also known as Information Counter. Classy dining is one of the cheapest in the world that will surely be appreciated by weary travellers. The new buildings boast of modern facilities, from monitors to clean restrooms, wide aisles and free use of carts. Uniformed porters are friendly and render their services for free although they are allowed to accept gratuities. The customs lane is comparable to Heathrow or LAX in terms of speed. The Immigration people, despite their hawk eyes, appear courteous and hospitable. The good airconditioning system provide a shield from the searing temperature outside the building.
The wide expanse of the parking areas is the main reason for the swift flow of traffic inside the airport premises. Loading and unloading zones are clearly marked but the very considerate airport police sometimes allow vehicles to stop in non-designated areas on a case-to-case basis. The coupon system employed in hiring cabs eliminates the hassles of unfair pricing. It is the airport management who assigns fare costs for each specified distance where the traveller buys the coupon in the airport and pays the cab driver with the coupon. The risk of being conned is minimized because the taxi cabs are all registered and their movements are fully monitored by the concerned department of the airport. There is a long list of documented testimonies of foreigners where cab drivers returned a lost baggage or other belongings inadvertently left by the owner inside the cab.
For foreign travellers to other provinces like Cebu or Davao, a connecting domestic flight can easily be availed of and if schedules don’t permit, airport personnel will lend a hand for an emergency night accommodations. For those with no previous intention but had decided to go straight to the province, the Tourism booth inside the arrival area can greatly help in providing necessary information regarding recommendable tourist spots in the country.
But, like any other too-good-to-be-true items, NAIA is not free of criminal elements who are lurking for their prey. It is only right to follow our parents’ admonitions not to talk to strangers (unless they are uniformed and with nameplates). And if one will just be careful enough with their belongings and trust, one will surely enjoy the hospitality of the best airport in Asia – The Ninoy Aquino International Airport – the pride of the Philippines.

I am going to have to disagree with this report, it was certainly not what I found last month and and I cant believe I was at the same place. Maybe a case of Rose Tinted glasses as you come from the Phillipines.

An extremely well-written and helpful opinion. All your observations were very useful and gave an
excellent insight into both the facilities and ambience of the airport - superb stuff! :o)
