Nite Inn at Universal City, Studio City

City Inn - a hidden gem.

Advantages: Price, features of room, location
Disadvantages: err... food is a bit bland and pricey

I think I spend far too much time in hotels, and can be quite demanding. That said, it is with pleasure I report that the City Inn in Birmingham is a hidden gem. Location The hotel is located in the trendy Brindley Place development just off Broad Street in Birmingham, and as such is ideally situated for pubbing, clubbing and general merriment and yet being secluded (for a city) enough for a bit of peace and quiet. Brindley Place itself is home to a variety of trendy bars and restaurants including the (in)famous Bank and various luxury apartments. It's a mainly pedestrianised area, and is easily accessible by foot bus or train from New Street station. The majority of other hotels in the area are located directly on Broad Street, which can be quite noisy with the drunken hordes clamouring around after about 10pm. Mind you don't get ...

Review of City Inn, Birmingham

Kraking location - Holiday Inn City Centre, Krakow

Advantages: Great location as a base to visit this city, well recommended
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for

Krakow's airport (Pope John Paul II Airport) which is served from the UK by easyJet and British Airways. The airport is about 11k from the city and there is a nearby train station from which you can travel cheaply in a journey taking about 15 minutes. I made the mistake of walking from Krakow station to my accommodation (it did not look very far on the map!) and I regretted hauling luggage over cobbled streets. You can get trams or taxis from the railway station readily all over the city. Krakow is on the banks of the Vistula River and the old part of town is a horseshoe shape with the open end of the horseshoe at the bottom on the river banks (the horseshoe, in fact, is where the old city walls used to be - more about this later). Review of Holiday Inn Krakow City Center, Krakow

Shop and dine at Universal City Walk!

Advantages: Great fun and things to do after a long day in the theme park
Disadvantages: Not as good as Downtown Disney

What is it?? Universal City Walk is located at Universal Orlando in Florida, USA and is Universal's answer to the Downtown Disney complex at Walt Disney World. It is nowhere near as large as Downtown Disney, but nevertheless offers a ranges of shops, dining and entertainment experiences to keep you busy after a day in the two Universal theme parks. Universal City Walk is located between the two theme parks (Universal Florida and the new Islands of Adventure). If you walk out of either theme park you can't miss it!! Shopping There are quite a variety of shops here that are interesting to browse around and buy from, but as with shops at Walt Disney World, you won't find too many bargains!!
