Nora is a beautiful small touristic village belonging to the district of Pula (Cagliari, South Sardinia) and it's famous mainly for its Punic-Roman ruins. But archeological finds like the "Temple of Tanit", ceramics and the ruins of a nuraghe on the outskirts, just prove that Nora was already inhabited in the era of the nuraghi, long before the Phoenicians and the Romans.

In the archeological area, which is one of the most important of the whole Mediterranean area, you can admire the semicircular structure of the roman theatre where during the summer is held a poetry performance called "la notte dei poeti"; the ruins of the thermal baths, temples, pavement mosaics and the so called "House with the tetrastyle atrium", a villa belonged to a noble family with an atrium and four white columns.

At the end of Nora bay there is a zone large about 55 hectares, called "Laguna di Nora" (Nora lagoon) where you can enjoy different services.
-The Auarium- Here you can see typical mediterranean species in "touch pool" tanks and here is also where sea animals are rescued and cured.
Guided tour lasts about 90 minutes and tickets costs €7 but discounts are available for children, students and seniors.

But Nora is also a well known touristic village with a lovely beach with golden sand and crystal clear water. Sometimes you can spot shoal of fishes jumping out the water and often small ones come close to you and tickle your feet so I raccomend to bring with you an underwater mask when bathing.
Better to avoid it during late July and August weekends, if you hate crowded beaches. The weather usually is lovely starting from May untill mid-September.

In Pula there is a main square always crowded during summer nights where enjoy music ( I saw Matt Bianco band this year) and where you can sit in the open in the near "Nuraghe" bar for a drink o much better for a lovely ice cream; or you can take a walk along the beautiful narrow lanes where local shops and jewellery/gifts stalls are open till midnight, there is also a nice shopping gallery; there are discos in the vicinity (along the Sulcitana road, the one the links Cagliari to Pula) and a local weekly small market which sells food, gifts, small appliances and clothes.
