can believe the rubbish people have written about this perfectly adequate and relaxing holiday hotel. We did not have one problem with our stay there and if we did it would have been quickly sorted, what are people expecting the ritz? There are so many errors and untruths in these reviews written it is truly unbelievable and wholly unjustified, if you want an honest truthful review, here it is!
We stayed at the Norbreck one week ago for four nights, myself and two of my two children, a boy aged 13 and a girl aged 9. When we arrived we checked in before the alloted time of 3pm onwards, it was at 2pm, life worked fine, and if it didnt there were others we could have used, keycard worked fine and we had been allotted a quiet room. Fresh sheets, no stains, Could see out of the windows, one window had a seaview, Fresh towels, and as many as you wanted, just ask at reception for more Tea tray with hot choc sachets and biscuits too, changed everyday and cups washed, Rooms cleaned thoroughly everyday, bathrooms cleaned, including bathmat, no stray hairs, plenty of loo roll and hotel
toiletries. Didn't see or hear other guests Didn't see any maids till we left No problems whatsoever with the room Beds comfortable, even had a double bed for me and two single beds for the children when it was only supposed to be a double and single Wardrobes and drawers adequate, fitted everything in fine, they werent new, but with such a busy hotel and a constant turnaround and 480 bedrooms a revamp is difficult. Heating was fine, not too hot and not too cold, we had plenty of windows so could leave so open and closed as we wished.
Onto the eating arrangements, yes you had to book dinner at breakfast time but there was no problem with this at all, even when we booked it late we got a time of after 7pm which was fine by me as we were out all day and the later the better. Not sure I understand the complaints about the food, it was perfectly fine, tasty, hot and plentiful. Breakfast was three kinds of fruit juices, 5 cereals at least, prunes, yoghurt, grapefuit, ham, cheese, sausage, variations every day, bacon, black pudding, fried bread, saute potatoes, beans, tomatoes, scrambled egg, toast, 2 jams, butter and flora, plentiful tea and coffee, which was free, of course. A couple of time there were queues to get in, because of coach tours, but this wasnt a problem, as we were seated within ten minutes.
Dinner time at the castles, you waited to be seated, a jug of iced water was served with lemon then you ordered soup, which was fresh and did NOT taste like packet mixes, big pieces of veg, hot and tasty. After soup, if you wanted it, was a buffet style dinner. Five courses at least, always a fish dish, a chicken, a pasta, a vegetarian, a mixed one and lots of veg and potatoes. Puddings were mostly frozen type gateauxs, which were not ordinary, a good variety, a hotel this size would be difficult to keep bringing out endless puddings, though a hot one would have been nice; there was also fresh fruit salad, not tinned, as there was a half grapefruit and watermelon on various nights. I took a liking to a new banana bread cake with choc trim, spoke to the chef about it and was amazed it wasnt homemade it was so authentic; tea and coffee were also complimentary outside the restaurant.
Kids used cinema a few times, films on four times a day and were free. Arcade room was a little warm as there were no windows or air conditioning, but kids were only in there for ten minutes or so.
Staff were very friendly, whatever you asked for they tried to help with, extra complimentary items, tea coffee, towels ect, all brought to your room.
Hotel was a bit dated but who cares as long as you get good service and have a comfortable stay.
We didnt use the pool nor were there for any entertainment, came back quite late every night, had our dinner and went up to room to watch tv, felt just like home and when we got home missed it so much.
Was a distance away from promenade but better that way!, bus fares were £4 return for an adult, and you could hop on and off buses all day, trams were same price but only single fares; both tram stops and bus stops are right outside hotel, large car park for plenty of cars.
On last day one lift was out of order but soon found out an alternative route, this wasnt a problem at all, and no inconvenience to us, even though, everyone in hotel was left an apology letter in their room and vouchers for a free drink too, now that is service for you!
I wish more people would write positive reviews and stop nitpicking, it is not fair, it is not right and its totally unjustified, and an insult to the hotel and its hard working staff, it affects peoples decisions on what hotel to book their break at and can have serious repercusions.
Cant understand why people would want to critisize the hotel and staff so much, I couldn't fault it and it goes highly recommended for a great break away in Blackpool!

I agree with Greekqueen whole heartedly. I have stayed at tis Hotel 3 times already this year. I only have praise for the Staff there who are very hard working. If you treat people with respect you will gain respect in return. It certainly is home from home.

Yes, members' ratings are essentially a review of your review. Lots of elements go to make a great article including structure. I think everyone meant to be helpful. I personally thought your review was quite good (apart from the criticism of other people's views) - look forward to your next one. :-)
